i am fairly early on in pregnancy with dc2, but i can think of no names i like whatsoever.

dh has made umpteen suggestions, i either dislike them or they don't go with the middle & surname. i like to know in advance what i'm calling the baby, makes it seem more real to me.

so, suggestions for both genders please :)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BlueChampagne · 17/01/2012 14:32

Glad you've got a strong contender for a girl anyway.

Lewis
David
Lachlan
Francis/Francesco
Aidan

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 14:40

i love the name david!!

i couldn't use it though, for a few reasons, but mainly cos dh hates it :(

i also like lachlan, but it's another one dh can't pronounce (he has a lot of trouble with certain "l" names.)

As your DH picked your other child's name, perhaps this time it should be the name you love, and your DH should just learn how to pronounce it? Lilith isn't hard!!

BlueChampagne · 17/01/2012 15:46

I like Lachlan too but it would have been ridiculous with our surname. How about Andrew?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 18:32

thecrunchunderfoot- dh is deaf, and has a medical problem which results in the right hand side of his mouth pulling down, so he can't just learn how to pronounce it, i'm afraid! there's some words that just don't come out right, no matter what.

bluechampagne- andrew is nice, but i don't like andy- which it would inevitably be shortened to.
mind you, ds is known as spongebob paulpants, so i'm not sure i've got a right to moan about nicknames Grin

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 18:50

just to clarify (as i realise i've unwittingly made dh sound like a bit of a dick) that we had a deal with ds- if baby was a boy, dh picked the name, if baby was a girl, i picked the name- simply because we couldn't agree on a name we both liked.

dh suggested doing the same this time around - i said no way, i'm not getting burned again Grin

I love Lorelei, but that might be a problem with the L thing. :)

Julia? Eleanor/a? Helen? Carlotta? Nicola? Arabella? Mirabelle? Maeve?

Dylan? Nate? Rex? Nolan? Jonathan? Ezra? Matthew?

CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 19:08

Also I love Elizabeth. Classic, beautiful, TONS of nickname potential, and goes with Paul.

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 19:15

elizabeth is mil's name Grin so i'm afraid thats out the window, especially seeing as ds is named after bil.

dh has suggested his name for a boy. bil is 23 months older than dh, ds will be 23 months older than this baby- errr, no dh!!!! Grin

i do like matthew, but i wouldn't use it.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 19:21

Caroline? Coralie? Aster? Susannah? Verity?

Noah? Callum? Seth? Everett? Wesley? Desmond?

Why wouldn't you use Matthew? Everyone I know is a shit, 'tis true. Especially my brother. :o

CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 19:21

For some reason I feel personally invested in your name choices now. Don't mind me. I'll just fill the thread with suggestions. :o

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 19:34

suggest away, cheerful, i appreciate it- i need all the help i can get Grin

coralie is quite nice, i like that.

hahaha, you've hit the nail right on the head, re matthew Grin i'm sure you're brothers lovely though Grin

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 19:44

Nope, he's a total shit. I love him dearly but am not overly fond of him IYSWIM. :)

Hmm...if you like Matthew, do you like Ethan, Joshua, Andrew, Jacob, Daniel, or Luke?

I love Coralie too...like Rosalie but better, and Coco is a cute nickname IMO. Emmeline?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 20:04

oops, foot in mouth Blush

boys names- andrew is ok, but i couldn't cope with andy- i'd be the type of mum that when his friends called for him & said "is andy there?" i'd be all "andy? nope sorry, no-one called andy lives here- we do have an andrew though, is that who you're looking for?" Blush i'm not a fan of shortening names. i do it with dh's friends all the time- tbf, he hates the shortened version of his name too. it doesn't suit him & sounds really neddy. they tend to use his full name now Grin

i do like rosalie- i also like esme and bella- dh likes jasper for a boy, but the whole twilight thing is putting me off- i love twilight, but don't want people assuming that's where i picked the name from, iyswim?

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 20:24

I like Jasper too. I wouldn't assume you got it from Twilight. :)

I'm the same with shortened names, though DS is Samuel and we always call him Sam. But I like Thomas, Christopher, and Patrick...but not Tom, Chris, or Pat.

My DH is Andy so I'm biased. :o You could go with Drew instead? Or just insist on Andrew?

Joseph?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 20:34

i'm not keen on drew either- i could insist upon andrew, but what do i do when he's 15? i can't control what his pals call him, unfortunately !

hmm, this whole naming thing is harder than it seems.

just so you know what i'm up against, dh is still a keen advocate ( since i was preg with ds) for, wait for it... marmaduke !

i pointed out that the only marmadukes i know are cats, & he counters with "but we could call him duke for short" ffs dh, that's a dogs name !! he's a very strange soul Grin

OP posts:
GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 20:35

i do like sam, but it's my mum's recently deceased cats name, so not too sure how she'd take it (cat was a girl, but even so) - as i said, it's tricky !

OP posts:
earlyriser · 17/01/2012 20:43

Magnus or Murdoch for a boy?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 21:03

hmm- while i think magnus is grand, it really doesn't go with the middle or surname :(

as an aside, was magnus the name of miss honey's dad in matilda? it was something like that anyway, i'm sure.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 22:07

Yup. "This is Magnus...give my Jenny her house. Then get out." :o

Matthias?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 23:04

ah, thanks for confirming that for me, cheerful.

not too keen on matthias, sorry.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 23:07

Any more ideas on what sort of thing you do like?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 23:23

no, that's the problem. there's very few names i do like, and even if i do like something, theres no guarantee i'll like it next week.

i'm a fusspot, tbh ! :)

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 23:28

So something kind of like Anthony, Stephen, and Matthew, but not. :)

Do you like Max or Ben?

If you like Lachlan, do you like Declan?

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 17/01/2012 23:29

Gemma
