i am fairly early on in pregnancy with dc2, but i can think of no names i like whatsoever.

dh has made umpteen suggestions, i either dislike them or they don't go with the middle & surname. i like to know in advance what i'm calling the baby, makes it seem more real to me.

so, suggestions for both genders please :)

elizabeth is mil's name Grin so i'm afraid thats out the window, especially seeing as ds is named after bil.

dh has suggested his name for a boy. bil is 23 months older than dh, ds will be 23 months older than this baby- errr, no dh!!!! Grin

i do like matthew, but i wouldn't use it.

Also I love Elizabeth. Classic, beautiful, TONS of nickname potential, and goes with Paul.

CheerfulYank · 17/01/2012 19:07

I love Lorelei, but that might be a problem with the L thing. :)

Julia? Eleanor/a? Helen? Carlotta? Nicola? Arabella? Mirabelle? Maeve?

Dylan? Nate? Rex? Nolan? Jonathan? Ezra? Matthew?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 18:50

just to clarify (as i realise i've unwittingly made dh sound like a bit of a dick) that we had a deal with ds- if baby was a boy, dh picked the name, if baby was a girl, i picked the name- simply because we couldn't agree on a name we both liked.

dh suggested doing the same this time around - i said no way, i'm not getting burned again Grin

thecrunchunderfoot- dh is deaf, and has a medical problem which results in the right hand side of his mouth pulling down, so he can't just learn how to pronounce it, i'm afraid! there's some words that just don't come out right, no matter what.

bluechampagne- andrew is nice, but i don't like andy- which it would inevitably be shortened to.
mind you, ds is known as spongebob paulpants, so i'm not sure i've got a right to moan about nicknames Grin

I like Lachlan too but it would have been ridiculous with our surname. How about Andrew?

TheCrunchUnderfoot · 17/01/2012 15:14

As your DH picked your other child's name, perhaps this time it should be the name you love, and your DH should just learn how to pronounce it? Lilith isn't hard!!

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 14:40

i love the name david!!

i couldn't use it though, for a few reasons, but mainly cos dh hates it :(

i also like lachlan, but it's another one dh can't pronounce (he has a lot of trouble with certain "l" names.)

BlueChampagne · 17/01/2012 14:32

Glad you've got a strong contender for a girl anyway.

Lewis
David
Lachlan
Francis/Francesco
Aidan

no bother- my dad was half italian, hence the italian maiden name.
the surname is decidedly non-exotic, so an italian first name, middle name then bland surname probably wouldn't go.

ds is paul loreto surname, & it goes really well- guess it just depends how it gels.

morvern italianmiddlename surname is really sounding good at the moment.

just need to think of a boys name now.

BlueChampagne · 17/01/2012 13:59

And here's me being misled by the Italian theme - sorry Blush.

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 13:06

we are scottish Grin

haven't heard of vashti before- and i wouldn't have guessed it was cornish either!

OP posts:
BlueChampagne · 17/01/2012 12:57

Always thought of Morvern as Scottish, but that's no reason why you shouldn't use it. I think it's lovely. If you want another unusual UK girl's name, how about Vashti (Cornish)?

GlitterySkulls · 17/01/2012 12:50

i'm currently mulling over morvern for a girl- opinions please?

a big plus is i can't think of a nickname for it, apart from morv or morvy, which just sounds a bit Hmm

pm'ed you back, ginger :)

OP posts:
GingerSnapsBack · 14/01/2012 16:09

I have a nice name I will pm you glittery as it is dds name and is v unusual to the point it will out me. It's maltese so should suit an Italian name quite well

GlitterySkulls · 14/01/2012 12:21

i've been trawling through baby name sites, but all i've found that i like is dante - which doesn't go with the surname- arrrgghhh!

i love the names anthony & stephen, but dh hates them.

dh is championing findlay- another no.

think i'm going to call this baby "baby"- easiest option :)

lilyliz · 12/01/2012 21:46

Giovanna shortens to Gina or Anna ,Juliette,Sophia,Marissa,Claudia.Trying the Italian theme here but this is all I can think of just now.

crocodilesmiles · 11/01/2012 21:58

What about the name Daniella? Has lots of potential nicknames and it isn't over popular so won't be tied to a particular time / generation. Unusual but not wacky!!

GlitterySkulls · 11/01/2012 21:16

ooh, i quite like niccolo, don't think it would go with the surname though :(

yeah, i don't like alliteration, i just don't like the way it sounds.

i don't really like any of the suggestions so far- not that there's anything wrong with them, it's just none of them are jumping out at me.

i do like lucrezia, but it's another one dh struggles to get out, so it's a no-go too.

Do you definitely have to exclude R names? Lots of people have two names starting with the same letter. My sister dies and it's never caused her a problem.
