Girl number 3 on the way and really struggling to find a name we love.

Favourite so far is Gracie, but is this too popular at mo? We seem to hear Grace alot, is this anyone elses view?

Surname is Burton. Other girls are Isabella and Maddie.
Also, possible second names... we thought Gracie Rose Burton sounded ok??
Any suggestions?????

Liked Betsy, but does Betsy Burton sound toooo twee?

Help please. x

I wouldn't use Betsy since it's a nickname of Elizabeth, and you already have an Isabella, which is the Provencal form of Elizabeth.

In any case, Elizabeth Burton, as someone else said, has Liz Taylor associations.

Rose Burton is stunning! You could call her Rosie.

JestersHat · 10/01/2012 17:08

Grace/Gracie is lovely. Popular yes, but if you like it use it :)

Isabella is nice too, though again very popular.

Not so keen on Maddie or Betsy I'm afraid, and I think Betsy Burton is a bit much, sorry.

My two fantasy girls names are Bridget and Genevieve....

Betsy Burton's fabulous, Gracie Rose is more middle of the road.
a short middle name would be great with betsy - why not use Rose if you like it

I know of one Betsy with a sister Gracie! Love both names, don't think either too cutesy. But I do agree with other posters to maybe use them as nn's, always remember one poster saying to imagine them in a high powered job with that name eg, Judge Betsy Burton might not carry as much weight as Judge Elizabeth Burton.

I love Grace - I considered it for dd's, but was put off by it's popularity.
However, I have just asked all my 4 children if they know anybody called Grace/Gracie and they don't.
I know one girl at church called Grace (she is 19) and a woman in her late 40's caleed Grace but that is it - so it certainly does not seem to be popular here!
Definitely call her Grace and use Gracie as a nn though.

Betsy is lovely, but would use Elizabeth with Betsy as a nn.

mathanxiety · 10/01/2012 15:39

Grace Burton sounds lovely. I would use a name other than Rose as the mn though. Grace and Rose are both heavily used as mns.

Maybe Grace Madeleine Burton?

Betsy Burton sounds nice. I would hesitate to use Betsy on the BC and would instead name her officially Elizabeth. However, that would run into Elizabeth Taylor/ Richard Burton associations.

Isabella Burton sounds like a question. I think Isabel sounds better.

Oh I meant to say I love Grace, it floated around for each of my daughters.

If you really like a name does it matter if you think there a lot of them?

My second daughter has a very common name apparently and started nursery school last September. She is the only one of her name in the year (52 children), there are 2 other girls with the same name which is lovely but has been called not very common on here Grin.

Kayzr · 10/01/2012 14:07

I love Betsy!! It's fantastic. I wouldn't use Gracie as there are just too many Graces for my liking.
