How do you pronounce Natalia?

I really love this name for a little girl, but the pronunciation has got me.
I was thinking Nuh-TAR-lia
I've also heard it pronounced Nuh-TA-lia though. Which do you use?

Ok that was a it mean. Nuh-taaar-lia sounds like Eastenders. Na-tah-lia could sound quite nice.

Being northern I make the middle a short and think it sounds nice and more even that way. If you go for a southern drawly 'ahh' sound it sounds like something from Eastenders.

Definitely Nat at the beginning, like Natalie, not Nut.

I'd pronounce it Na- TAL- ia (hard a like cat), although the one I know, lovely little girl, goes by the nn Taly (pron. Tarly).

Russian pronunciation of Tanya, NaTALia etc. would not be the same as the a in cat - it is slightly longer but nowhere near as long as 'ar'. It's almost an 'uh' sound, a cross between 'ah' and 'uh'.
The anglicisation of Tanya usually produces the 'a' as in cat sound, not as pretty to my ears, although some people still say Tarnya, which I like even less.(Apologies to any Tanyas who pronounce their name that way!)
I'm only using Tanya as an example because it's a more usual name than Natalia but has the same issues, IMO.

I think either pronunciation you have mentioned is perfectly acceptable, although I do like Nat-all-ia more than Nat-ah-lia.

I recently met a Nat-ay-lia, which confused me. Never heard that pronunciation.

I think it depends on origin. The Russian way is na-TA-lia

I love it if it's Na-TAL-ia. Na-TAHL-ia makes my gums itch and completely changes the name to a not very nice one

id pronounce it nah-tahl-ya, but am also saying it with a russian accent for some strange reason, but I really like it :)
