What do you think?

Or do you associate it with Stimpy?

Have to say, am totally and utterly stumped with girls names this time.

Wren - is that even a name??

It looks very harsh, is difficult to pronounce properly in many languages (especially phonetic germanic languages who'd pronounce the W) and sounds harsh to my ears, sorry.

I would have thought it is a boys name before this thread actually.

PlasticFlamingo · 11/01/2012 23:46

My DD is called Ren, we needed a name that was known in English, French and Japanese.

The kanji for my DD's name means lotus blossom. There is another kanji which means love.

The only down side is that Ren means radish in Serbian!

I still love her name thoughSmile

Wen? How bizarre- it means an open sore!

cece · 10/01/2012 21:00

I know a girl called Wen.

boyfallingoutofthesky · 10/01/2012 20:58

Wren is a little delicate bird - fine if she is little and delicate but maybe wouldn't suit everyone!

I agree there are nicer names.

seeker · 10/01/2012 20:15

Second name absolutely fine. But for the love of God, not a first name!

SoupDragon · 10/01/2012 20:01

It is your DDs middle name though. Huge difference.

becclestown · 10/01/2012 19:58

Or they are a very loud beautiful voice in a very small package, just like my DD.

seeker · 10/01/2012 10:43

No, Molly, they are tiny, drab little insignificant squeaky things that you don't even notice until they perform. Perfect role model for the women of the future.

choccyp1g · 10/01/2012 10:27

I know an adult Ren, short for Karen.
You can also have Wren as a nickname for Jenny.

Mollydoggerson · 10/01/2012 10:24

Are Wren's not big clunky blackbirds?

ChickensGoMeh · 10/01/2012 10:11

The Ren in 'Neighbours' was short for Serendipity

seeker · 10/01/2012 10:07

"I LOVE Wren. So pretty and sweet."

But what if she doesn't want to be pretty and sweet?

And are "pretty and sweet" the characteristics we want most in out girls? Particularly when they become women?

SoupDragon · 10/01/2012 10:01

I think it is daft as a name.

Having said that, it is DDs nickname, short for Seren (and never have you met a child less like a wren!).

SilkStalkings · 10/01/2012 07:44

It's definitely a good alternative middle name - so many have Rose, Grace or May.

MrsRV · 09/01/2012 19:44

I desperately want to call our baby girl Wren... I love it with all my heart but hubby hates it! Which makes me really really sad Sad

We both like Ella but I'm still campaigning for Wren... I'm kind of hoping that when she's born she'll just look like a Wren and Hubby will think so too!!

Martha Wren is just lovely - great name. :)

becclestown · 09/01/2012 08:27

I love it: DD is Martha Wren, after a moment of clarity in the labour ward hearing the bird singing outside.

NorkyPies · 08/01/2012 23:15

I like it, but would she get Rennie (indigestion tablet) as a nickname? Perhaps it wouldn't matter.

pookamoo · 08/01/2012 23:10

I love it! It was top of my list for DD2 for a long time! If a DD3 ever comes along I might just have to use it! GO for it, with the W.

Whatevertheweather · 08/01/2012 23:08

Ah Dee how strange its you Smile I NEVER come on baby names but saw the name and had to come and say what a beautiful name I think Wren is.

I met someone called it the other week and she was lovely and quirky and I've been thinking what a gorgeous name ever since. Definitely with the W.

3boysgirlontheway · 08/01/2012 23:04

I love it, it was on our list!

SilkStalkings · 08/01/2012 20:42

Lovely, have always liked this. Nice balance of nature-y witchcraft girlpower and pretty delicateness.

BackToBligg · 08/01/2012 20:04

I don't understand the name Wren. Surely there are nicer names.
