Is Ella not a name in its own right, rather than a nn? I always though it was.

MrsRV · 09/01/2012 19:39

I've never seen Ella as a nickname... I think it's definitely a name in it's own right. Ella Fitzgerald!?!

Ella Jude is gorgeous... We were going to have Jude for a boys first name and I loved it so much. Kind of saving it in case we have another baby and it's a boy!

Ella May is nice! :)

chaya5738 · 08/01/2012 22:32

agree that it would be better if she were called Eleanor with Ella as a nickname.

bananaistheanswer · 08/01/2012 21:37

OP my DD is called Emma Jane frequently at school, and she also gets Ella Mae as well. It's one of those names that is easily mixed up, but I still love it. And DD is very insistent that people use her full name - she gets a tad annoyed when she is called Ella. I used to call her EJ for short but now get pulled up by DD.

sillymillyb · 08/01/2012 21:01

I always wanted an Ella May if I had a girl :D

Shelly32 · 08/01/2012 20:57

Just to borrow Beyonce's baby's name...I think Ella Blue works

Northernlurker · 08/01/2012 20:49

Plase call the poor mite Eleanor instead and use Ella as a nickname. Lots more options and much easier to be a divorce lawyer or aged Professor of Greek called Eleanor.

Hulababy · 08/01/2012 20:47

I think it needs to be one syllable.

My first thought was Ella Grace.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 08/01/2012 20:46

I've got an Ella Grace so slightly biased Wink

tkband3 · 08/01/2012 09:36

DD1 is Ella Rosa, which we both loved and coincidentally was both DH's great-grandmother's name and my great-aunt's name. It also gave her the slightly royal initials ERH Grin.

MrsRV · 08/01/2012 09:28

Love Ella Jane but sis in law is Emma Jane so a bit too similar? or a really nice gesture? xx
