Toby or Tom ?

The title says it really. We have a single syllable surname, would baptise DS Thomas but probably use Tom most of the time. Toby was our boys name with DD, who is two syllables ending in -ie and I still really like as well.
I can't decide, so opinions please.

sparkling I didn't mean it was right to think of other childs name, more that I think I am starting to obsess over this slightly.

We'll just go with the name we prefer and not worry about all the other things. Although as DH favouring Toby (and me to an extent) it will wrankle that DS gets 3 names, I'll just have to leave my OCD tendencies to the side and let it go. Cheers for all the help.

Prefer Tom to Toby, just more of a classic, and more mature somehow - despite popularity.

All the Toms I've known have been lovely.
