Pronunciation of Eoin

Discussing with DH how to pronounce this name. I always understood it to be pronounced 'Owen'. DH however thinks it's something different, but he's not sure what !!!
Can someone please help clarify this.

Eoghan and Eoin are pronounced 'Owen' no matter what part of Ireland you're from (I'm Irish!)

I know an Eoin, his family are from west Ireland (though not Donegal) and they pronounce it Owen.

Considering you can also spell it Owain (Welsh) it must be one of the names that has the most spellings for the same pronunciation!

I was also wondering about Eogan/Eoghan - is that pronounced Owen or Egan?
