So do we reckon that Mary, Edith and Sybil are going to have a resurgence then?

DD has a Downton name. She is going to be 6 next week. I know of 2 others.

I meant Edith- was thinking about Ethel, but don't know ny!

seeker · 04/01/2012 19:50

Dd(16) has friends called Mary and Cora, and we know a baby Ethel.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/01/2012 19:46

I love the name Cora.

Grandhighpoohba · 04/01/2012 19:45

I have an ulterior motive for asking! My mother was clearly ahead of her time and gave me a name featured in Downton 30+ years ago, and I have had a lifetime of teasing, or people commenting on it, and it would be really nice for me if it came back in style!

I love Sybil.

Mary is definitely making a comeback. I know two baby Marys born recently.

MrsBovary · 04/01/2012 18:23

Yes, quite agree.

Littlecherublegs · 04/01/2012 16:31

I dont mind Edith or Anna and am beginning to love Cora!
Can see them getting popular though.

As for the boys in DA, the ones I can think of are William, Thomas, Matthew, and Richard - nothing too imaginative there.

CaroleService · 04/01/2012 16:29

Isis.

Greythorne · 04/01/2012 16:14

My 5 yo Dd is a big Downton fan and has just named her doll Sybil.

greenmoo · 04/01/2012 16:04

Lavinia.

Kayano · 04/01/2012 14:07

I don't like Edith or Sybil but Mary is OK. I saw a Livinia on TV the other day. Is that how you spell it?

Tanyaaah · 04/01/2012 13:58

But what about boy's names? Matthew....a bit 80's, can't think of the others!

Prunella79 · 04/01/2012 13:56

edith already is, i've met about 8 new babies in the last year and 2 were called edith

Chesticles · 04/01/2012 13:48

I think Mary will. Not too sure about the other two. Cora is definitely been used a few times around here of late. I know 2 (one 3yo so not DA related, one 3months)

JestersHat · 04/01/2012 13:28

Yes - all nice and fit with the "old lady" trend!
