Jasmine? Is it popular, classic, how many do you know ... any comments appreciated.

It's very similar to DD2s name. Same sound so I do like it.

ViolaCrayola · 01/01/2012 22:27

It is quite nice, has a fairly modern feel... um... makes me think of Aladdin (Disney). I know one who is about 19.

Collision · 01/01/2012 22:29

I know LOADS at school.

DS1 aged 9 has 8 in his year group!!

susiedaisy · 01/01/2012 22:29

I love it, my niece is called thatGrin

hester · 01/01/2012 22:31

I'll warn you now that there is a body of opinion on MN that it is chavvy. Personally I think it is a very pretty name - has got more popular, but not too popular, and the only Jasmine I know is a great kid (and she's not even mine!)

sonniebonnie · 01/01/2012 22:33

I'm not keen.

But thankfully we all have different tastes. Lots of people don't like my kids' names either. Who cares Smile. And at least we're not all called the same!

Purpleroses · 01/01/2012 22:34

It's lovely, I think - I love the smell of the flower. But there are 3 Jasmine's in my DD's year (2 classes) at school - not chavvy - these are all v middle class kids.

MudAndGlitter · 01/01/2012 22:34

I no someone who has a Jasmynne.
If you spell it right it's lovely!

Jojay · 01/01/2012 22:37

Lovely

Italiangreyhound · 01/01/2012 23:43

I love it, beautiful. I love the smell of Jasmine flowers and think it is beautiful. I only know one child called Jasmine.

Plonker · 02/01/2012 00:10

I think it's a beautiful name.

T'was vetoed by my dh for our girls because of the nn Jazz Hmm

EtInTerraPax · 02/01/2012 00:13

I really like the name Jasmine. I think it's a classic name, and not the 'c' word at all. I know a couple of very lovely Jamines.

3boysgirlontheway · 02/01/2012 11:35

I like it but, the fact that a baby in Eastenders is called it puts me off a bit.

EdithWeston · 02/01/2012 11:38

I know four. I wouldn't describe it as a classic name, but it's a perfectly good choice.

melondon · 02/01/2012 18:39

What do you think of the name "Aidan Oliver" as first and middle names? Do they work well together? I quite like the name Oliver as I like the idea of calling him "Ollie" for short.. but Oliver Aidan doesn't have the same ring to it... ?

melondon · 02/01/2012 18:41

Sorry - should've started a new thread!

CecilyP · 02/01/2012 19:52

I like it. I know one aged 22 who tends to get called Jazz for short. Don't think it is at all chavvy.

AberdeenAngusina · 02/01/2012 22:04

I know one aged 14, plus an 11 year old who has Jasmine as her middle name.

AnotherMincepie · 02/01/2012 22:06

Lovely, very pretty :)

MrsBovary · 02/01/2012 22:19

Not keen, and dislike potential short forms; Jaz, Minnie

Tortoise · 02/01/2012 23:01

The baby in EE is Yasmin I thought.
