I think names sound too similar- DH disagrees

DD is called Isla (6 years ago names wasn't even in top 100 grrrrr), and currently dithering over girls' names for bump. We both quite like Alice, but I am discounting because I think Isla and Alice sound far too similar, DH thinks I am nuts.
Thought I would offer to mumsnet jury. :)

I am Alice, niece is Isla, never any confusion etc when we are together.

Or are you more worried by nicknames - isla and Ali are almost like each other in reverse - especially if you don't sound the S then they really are a reversal of each other. Which I can see might not be what everybody wants, if you want them to have two distinct names and identities.

If it worries you I think you need to say that you don't like the name rather than you think it doesn't go. If you give a reason if your dh really likes it then they can argue against a reason like sounding too similar whereas if you don't like it then he can't really argue against that...

I don't exactly think they sound alike, but would be too similar to me and don't go, so I agree with you... I think

I really like Isla and Alice, think that's a nice combo? Do you like the name Alice by itself, or is it only in combination with Isla that you're not convinced?

It's not that they're too similar, but they're a bit of a tongue twister togther. Don't know if that matters.
