Baby due next Friday, just looking for some ideas as to what grandmas are called these days? DHs mum is happy with "mammar" (think that's a regional thing - we're from Notts - but my mum doesn't like it, she also says nan or gran makes her sound old!! I just used to call mine Grandma (name)!! Any more ideas??

Nana and Pops

Sorry should have been grandad not Granada!

MummyAbroad · 30/12/2011 21:38

My mum also refused to be "granny" or "nana" as it made her feel old, so she elected to be "G.V." which is short for "Granny Vivienne" (her first name obviously)

Everyone uses it and it works out fine except my 3.5 year old has started to ask "why is she called G.V.?"...and I'm not sure how to answerHmm

We called ours nanny/nana first name and granddads called by their first names Confused

My DD has one grandma (DH's mum) a granddad (my dad - when she sees him, but that's another post!) and if my mum were here she would be nanny.

Hulababy · 30/12/2011 21:19

DD calls my parents and DH's parents nana and grandad.

DadOfSprogs · 30/12/2011 21:17

Mine call their's Nanny xxx or Grandad xxx (where xxx is their Christian name).

Apart from initial shock from the Grandparents - it's worked out well and there's no confusion on who is who with our littlies.
