What do you think of each ... and which do you prefer? All opinions welcome! Thanks

Jasmine, definitely :) A very pretty "nature" name.

Not so keen on Erin, there's not much to it, although it seems to crop up quite often if there's an Irish connection.

Erin is an Irish man's name, made female in America. It is nice but I perceive it as very American.

3isamagicnumber · 29/12/2011 10:35

Whelk · 29/12/2011 12:09

Erin is lovely.

Jasmine is ok.

RosemaryandThyme · 30/12/2011 23:27

Erin

Jasmine sounds too weak to me, Erin seems somehow stronger.

Liveinthepresent · 30/12/2011 23:53

Erin lovely. Feminine but strong.

cymruambyth · 31/12/2011 00:01

Those were DH's and I's two favourite names when I was pregnant with DD. We went for Erin and it really suits her cheeky little madame Grin

Offspring · 02/01/2012 07:19

YuleingFanjo · 02/01/2012 07:35

Erin most definitelty. Jasmin is a rice and a contraceptive isn't it?

MudAndGlitter · 02/01/2012 07:41

Erin

HardCheese · 02/01/2012 10:41

I'm Irish and Erin doesn't work for me at all, to be honest. Either it comes across as one of those Irish-American 'proclaiming my descent in a loud voice' things, or I'm reminded of the Erin soups and gravies range (which is a common brand in Ireland if not elsewhere). I mean, it has a pretty sound, but there seems to me something slightly odd about calling your baby by the (Anglicised) name of a country, whether or not you have some connection to Ireland. It's like calling your baby England or Turkey or Pakistan...?

lemonbonbons · 02/01/2012 10:59

Jasmine s must have been popular about 10-15 years ago as there are at there are lots at the secondary school where I work, especially popular with the Asian girls. Some like ' Jasmine ' some 'Jazz ' and some ' Yasmine' even tho they are all spelt the same .

I love Erin ( nearly used it for my last ) Grin

MustControlFistOfDeath · 02/01/2012 11:01

Erin, beautiful name

oooggs · 02/01/2012 11:03

We have an Erin and her best friend is Jasmine.

Do you like the nicknames that come with Jasmine?

SoFreshNSoClean · 02/01/2012 11:05

Hate Erin, it is so faux Irish (sorry)

`Jasmine is sweet, but prefer Yasmin
