What do people think of the name Albert?

I like the old names that are becoming popular again but I don't want the name to be common. We have an Albert in the family. Old and unusual but I'm not sure... What do you think? And if you hate it can you suggest any alternatives?

Also you tell everyone the sex of the baby, then the name...where's the surprise...but that's just me!!

I know a Robert who's Bert?!?

I wouldn't tell your mother or anyone else for that matter (apart from us lot, clearly Xmas Grin) about what you may or may not call bump. Once you open up the conversion they will feel like it's their place to offer suggestions or comment on ie: Albert. Which you may be ok with if they like Albert, but if they don't...!!!

Bertie is super cute as a nn.

I feel like I should break it to her early... We find out next week if we're having a boy or a girl and I'm thinking I might tell her over the next couple of days that we're thinking of it, that will give her chance to get used to the idea just incase it is a boy... We're thinking of using her name if it's a girl so it seems reasonable but I just know she's going to hate it Sad

My mum hates DDs name but loves the nn and everyone calls her that anyway. Just don't tell her until he's born!

I absolutely love it, too. My all time hero, Jarvis Cocker, called his son Albert, which makes me love it more.

Like it :) especially Bertie as a nn. Excellent choice!

Ah thank you Smile I'm so pleased people like it. Me and my sisters like Albie or Bertie as a nn, DH prefers Bert. I'm dreading telling my mum that we're even considering it. Blush

Love it - it was my grandpa's name (although his nn was Arthur for reasons I still don't understand).

Yes love it. Also love Albie as a nn.
