baby girl one week old and nameless- panic setting in...

So, we did spend the last few months of pregnancy struggling and failing to come up with a girl's name, but since we felt pretty convinced that it was boy anyway, and had a boy's name we loved, I wasn't too worried... then our little surprise girl arrived!

Now in the haze of sleep deprivation, we're beginning to panic. Everything sounds wrong, nothing seems right. Help, please?

The boy's name we had in mind was Bram, and we already have a DD named Juniper, just to give you a sense for what orbit we're in. We'd like a longer name with nickname option.

Some names we've considered but blocked on (with apologies in advance for stepping on people's toes with my comments).

Cleo, short for Cleopatra or Clementine-
every time I try it out, I mix it up with Chloe in my mind..also, fear it's becoming very popular

Saskia, with the nickname Kia -
just doesn't seem to fit baby somehow (in looks)

Twyla (as in Twlya Tharpe)

Willa, nickname Billie
I'm not crazy about the W sound, DH likes it, but worries about playground
'Willie' teasing potential...possibly Sybil/Billie

Indigo, with nickname Indie/ or Indira/Indie
A little too hippy-ish for me

Ivy
Doesn't sound great with surname, seems a little too breezy and short to me for an adult woman

other names that have come up in the past-- Linden, Pascale, Petra, Eliza

I'd love to hear any thoughts people have about these but also any ideas you have based on what we've been thinking...I'm hoping something here will help job my brain into action!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ooh I like the 4 names you considered early on: Pascale, Eliza & Petra are all lovely, but I especially like Linden (could be Lindy as a nn). I think Lindy is a sweet name for a little girl but with a proper grown-up name too.

Also like Laurel but that might be too close to Juniper, in botanical terms.

Wren is great!

MrsOzz · 22/12/2011 22:39

Wren is my favourite too. Feminine and classy but not too cutsie.

IHeartKingThistle · 22/12/2011 22:36

I love Wren and it would be fab with Juniper.

MrsOzz · 22/12/2011 22:26

Oo I like Karenza!

Nn could be:
Enza
Enzi
Wren/ren
Karrie
Zizi
Kez/Kezzy

Tomblibooooh · 22/12/2011 22:03

What about Zen being short for Kerenza? Or is that too hippyish?

If I have a girl next I quite like the names Iris and Gala, in case it helps.

latenightmum · 22/12/2011 21:51

Vannessa

DigOfTheChristmasTreeStump · 22/12/2011 21:28

Nice long name, though I like Kezia for everyday use.

theory · 22/12/2011 21:23

Thanks everyone, has really got me thinking afresh. The Cadence suggestion brought me back to Kerenza (sounds good with our sn).

Not thinking of calling her Kerenza as an everyday name, thinking of Zenna, Kenna or Kenza as nn options. Thoughts?
