Oh my gosh! The Isadora/Sadie I know of actually has a sister named Clementine! Shock They call her Cleo. I've always thought it was the most adorable sister set ever. Now you have to go for it!

SoFarWeAreEqual · 15/12/2011 16:03

Isadora is lovely, and Dora a gorgeous nickname

isadorable · 15/12/2011 15:26

My eight month-old is called Isadora. Her father is French and we live in France where it is an equally unusual name. We love it - infact it was the only name we agreed on and other people seem to like it too. My Mum worried about the tragic connection to Isadora Duncan but my daughter's contemporaries won't know it.

WinkyWinkola · 15/12/2011 12:53

God, Clementine and Isadora. Fabulous combination.

And as for negative connotations, you can find negativity in most names so I wouldn't let those colour my choice at all. Apart from perhaps Satan or Pol Pot.

MaggieAtwood · 15/12/2011 12:09

I love Sadie as a nn Cheerful. Like the name even more now.

We already have a Clementine. Do Clementine and Isadora sound like sisters?

I know a 4yo Isadora, it suits her, she is quite quirky. She is never Izzy or Dora either, always her full name.

And I've never heard of Isadora Duncan! Though personally I wouldn't be put off a name by something like that... But then I did call my DD Meredith because we love the name and its meaning, and according to many people on here the name is a no-no due to one tragic story.

perceptionreality · 13/12/2011 23:41

It makes me think of Isadora Duncan as well and was the reason I didn't choose it for dd3. I chose Isabella instead. Far more popular but I prefered popular to negative connotations. It's such a personal thing though - if it doesn't bother you it shouldn't matter.

hohohoshedittant · 13/12/2011 23:38

I think it's awful.

And it makes me sing 'Wizadora' too.

PhoebeLaura · 13/12/2011 22:12

Oh I adore Isadora. If only DH would agree (and if only I had a girl).

I love the Isadora Duncan connotations - I know it's a tragic story but such a strong, interesting character.

Love it.

CheerfulYank · 12/12/2011 19:52

I think Isadora is beautiful. I have heard of one whose parents call her Sadie for short, so that's another option.

I was just reading up on Isadora Duncan, I knew about the scarf but not that her two DC both died at the same time. (Drowning accident) How terrible, you'd just go mad, wouldn't you? :(

DesertOrchid · 12/12/2011 18:01

Lovely. Lots of great nn potential.

Shutupanddrive · 12/12/2011 17:10

Not keen, sorry

junglebums · 12/12/2011 15:39

It's the name I wanted for DD but DH wasn't keen. I think it's classic but not common, love it!

Abcinthia · 12/12/2011 15:12

It reminds me of Wizadora, we adore her.

I do like the name though and I've never met anyone with the name.

MamaLazarou · 12/12/2011 14:55

Lovely, lovely name.

madeindevon2 · 12/12/2011 14:40

this was until very recently number one on list for daughter due next year.
currently at number 2 now :-)
i like it.... this is classic name. not overused.

EatMeDates · 10/12/2011 18:49

Pretty name, but also think of strangled ballerina

WinkyWinkola · 09/12/2011 23:10

Love it. It's elegant and coolly classic.

Who cares about the famous Isadoras?

You can nn her Dolly! Only joking.

Theas18 · 09/12/2011 23:06

Isadora is a perfectly nice, serviceable name. BUT unless you stick to Dora strictly as a NN (love it!) she'll be one of many Izzys in her class/school as Isobel/Izabel/Isabelle etc as really common at the moment.

AnotherMincepie · 09/12/2011 22:42

I like it.

zozzle · 09/12/2011 21:46

Interesting dancer, awful death though and both her poor children drowned in an earlier accident.

TardlyWhiptrack · 09/12/2011 21:09

Murdered by her own scarf!!

mathanxiety · 09/12/2011 20:46

Love it.

bemybebe · 09/12/2011 20:19

Ooo, Isadora Duncan great dancer, feminist and the muse of Sergei Yesenin. Awesome name!

KateBeckett · 09/12/2011 20:11

It makes me sing the theme tune to 'Wizadora'!

But, saying that, I still like it :) And Isadora Duncan is amazing too.
