Marmite names which MNetters don't like..!!

It seems this topic board has loads of MN's 'marmite' names. Loads of threads along the lines off, 'DC would of been' or 'Names you Love.'.

...so I was just wondering, which names don't you like and why?

I adore Bertie!

tummytickler · 06/12/2011 14:30

MamaLazarou I forgot Amelie - I don't like that either, or Theo, as dh just reminded me!

Too many to mention!

MamaLazarou · 06/12/2011 14:16

Amelie - makes me shudder - reminds me of that awful film

Jack - THE most boring name ever invented

Ella - not a whole name by itself, it's the ending of lots of real names

tummytickler · 06/12/2011 14:14

I have some pet hates of perfectly 'nice' names, that I just strongly dislike for no reason. These are

Amy, Hannah, Anna, Emma, Millie, Maisy, Samantha, Sophie and Lily to name a few.
Mark, Marcus, Leo, Finley, Finlay, Paul, Archie, Alfred, Noah.

I don't know why people should be offended - we aren't going to all like the same names, and if you don't like the subject matter, don't read the thread.

tammytoby · 06/12/2011 13:42

And, why do some of you have such STRONG negative feelings about other people's choice of names?

tammytoby · 06/12/2011 13:41

I'm neither posh nor British (am German) but I still love names that are considered 'posh' by some in the UK - I must have a 'poncy' taste Grin. Hopefully I don't look too much like a dick Confused.

shouldnotbehere · 06/12/2011 13:40

I don't like Hugo, Orlando, Clemency or, Arrabella.

HarrySantaatemygoldfish · 06/12/2011 13:36

I can't stand poncey names either, the ones where people are trying to show how posh they are. Especially when yelled in gutteral estuary or thick local twang. You just look like a dick.

Proper posh call their kids Lucy and William.

Iggly · 06/12/2011 13:34

I've seen plenty of names on here that I think Hmm

Especially the poncy ones

tammytoby · 06/12/2011 13:32

This thread will end in tears....

but if you insist: I'm not keen on Archie, Alfie, Charlie, Ellie, cutesy type names, nor do I like Jayden/Kayden/Brayen type names, nor of lots of other names actually....

(I too rather like Caspar and Monty)

mopsyflopsy · 06/12/2011 13:28

See, I love Caspar and Monty Grin. Thankfully our tastes are all different!

HarrySantaatemygoldfish · 06/12/2011 13:27

Anything pretentiously ohwe'resomiddleclarsswhenreallyweain;t wanky.

Like Caspar or Monty.

mopsyflopsy · 06/12/2011 13:27

I don't hate any name. I might hate certain people, though Smile.

Yes, I do like some names more than others. But I agree with hellokitty - what is the point of us all listing names that we're not keen on - who will benefit from such a list?

hellokitty123 · 06/12/2011 13:20

Why does it matter so much what OTHER people's preferences are - thankfully we all have different tastes and wear different clothes, prefer different food and give our kids different names.

There are lots and lots of names I wouldnt' choose personally because I don't like them, but what is the point of listing them here Hmm?
