Marmite names which MNetters don't like..!!

I don't really hate them but names i would never ever entertain myself are Tegan, Kaitlyn, Megan and Madison for boys Kayden, Jayden, Brodie, Taylor etc also Edie, Noah Connie.

My baby names have come up a lot on this thread, not all just some

I forgot Beatrice and Scarlett.

I do like Richard though.

Olivia! All thanks to the world's most despicanle co-worker. I know it's popular but every time I hear it I think "bitch".

Also anything that was intended to sound sophisticated but actually says "my parents are in desperate need of an education. Like "Sophisticated" - currently being taught by my extremely good at keeping a straight face mother.

I'll probably piss of half of Mumsnet but I'll post the names I dislike,and can't understand the appeal of anyway...

effingwots, you've just mentioned my ds's name (and it is not Tarquin which I hate too!) and, with my dd's name being higher up the thread, both kids' names are now officially 'hated' on mumsnet .

But, as others have said, should we even care if others hate our choices as chances are we'll hate their choices - thankfully so as name diversity makes life more interesting!

See, I also dislike many names, in fact I really only love a handful of names, but I hope that I'd never 'write someone off' based purely on their name. In fact, I think it is lovely that we have different tastes - makes life much more interesting. I'd hate it if everyone else used 'my' favourite names .

So far my name, DP's name and DD's names have been listed at hated ones on this thread. Just need DS's to appear to get the full house.

I once sat in a restaurant next to a very blahhhhdeeeee couple with foghorn voices (so I wasn't earwigging). They were discussing their 3 kids - Tiger, Peregrine and I must have blocked out the last one. I almost fell off my chair laughing. The fact that the waiters flies were down and his red shirt was dangling out didn't help the situation.

I don't like 'full versions' of alot of names, eg Benjamin (I like just Ben), Maximillian, Archibald etc. Especially if the BC name is never used!

I don't like old man names apart from Albert. I also think some names are boring; Edward and James. I also dislike Sebastian and very long names. Just personal taste though. I would always say 'that's nice' when introduced to a baby with those above names. Theres no excuse to be rude to someone's face!

How do you pronounce caitlin if not kate lyn? Also the thing about marmite is that you either love it or hated, not that its universally hated.

I knew someone called darren who had brothers Barry and Gary and a mum called Sharon. He pointed out they were baz, daz, shaz and gaz :o

I disagree that George isn't a classic name. My DS who is 1 is George and we named him after my grandfather. I also know George's my age (mid 30s) plus in their 40s, 50s and 60s. So I would say it is classic and certainly not trendy (imo anyway).

My dislikes are the true faddy names like Finn, Flynn, Oscar, Noah. Girl's names that make me cringe are Ellie, Maisie, Lily, Tily, Milly etc etc. If I hear of another baby called Ava or Lily I might scream.

But it's all horses for courses right, because I know a lot of people would hate the name George for a little boy.
