Scottish MNers: How many Lachlans are there around at the moment??

Hello! We need a name for DS2 and I LOVE the name Lachlan, but don't want him to be one of 5 in his year at school like I was in my year with my common as muck name Grin. We live overseas at the moment so am feeling a bit out of touch with names but we will be coming back to Scotland sometime in the next few years, we hope!

So, is it really common just now??

Thx

None in my DC's nursery. I don't think I've even met anyone called Lachlan and I'm in Glasgow. It's a nice name, go for it!

glastocat · 02/12/2011 15:31

I'm in Ireland, no Lachlans here. Its a lovely name and I hate most names

midnightexpress · 02/12/2011 15:28

I don't know any (West of Scotland). None in the DSs school afaik.

BonnyBanks · 02/12/2011 15:19

We don't know of any Lachlans, either in nursery or in any of our activities. Lots of Jamies and Lewis' though.

Think you would be fine with Lachlan - certainly not one of 5.

EsmeWeatherwax · 02/12/2011 15:18

I love the name lachlan, don't know any kiddie ones here. Unfortunately I do know an adult one, and he's an utter arse, so I can't use it for upcoming ds, but it is a fantastic name!

Surf25 · 02/12/2011 15:11

Only know of one baby Lachlan in another city, and one aged 30, know of none in dd's nursery or amongst any of the many toddlers and primary school kids we know. Gorgeous name.

mollschambers · 02/12/2011 12:54

I've not heard of Connell. I'm north west and previously north east. It's nice though.

TapselteerieO · 02/12/2011 12:44

Conall seems to be more common in the North of Scotland, it is an Irish name too.

AberdeenAngusina · 02/12/2011 12:26

I don't know any personally. It's a great name. Archie seems to be current favourite name around here.

BebeBelge · 02/12/2011 11:07

Just thinking aloud... I don't think I have heard of Conall before. Not sure...

Ooh, thanks for the replies! This is promising, which is a relief as there are no other names on our list at all! Thank you everyone!

scarlettlips · 02/12/2011 09:22

I know 3...!
27yrs, 9 yrs and 6 months, all in Edinburgh.

I wanted Lachlan but DH is English and just can't pronounce it at all!

mollschambers · 02/12/2011 09:19

I know one in pre-school and know of one in primary.

LePrune is correct. Has to be pronounced right or we'll no let ye back ......

LePruneDeMaTante · 02/12/2011 09:15

I don't know any.
You will pronounce it with an 'ach' sound, won't you? Not with an 'ock'? In Australia it seems to be pronounced Locklan.

TapselteerieO · 02/12/2011 09:13

I don't know a lot of people who have had babies this year, but one old friend does have a newborn called Lachlan. It is a good name, and it isn't that common - none in the school/nursery that I know of, we have a couple of boys named Conall, three Brandons - they are all different ages - in my ds's class there are two Joshuas, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

LambofGod · 02/12/2011 08:47

Can't say for Scotland, but its very popular in Australia!
