Attica is shocking.

PrincessScrumpy · 25/11/2011 21:20

We have a Kitty (she's 12 weeks old). I don't like Kathy, Katherine etc so just wanted a Kitty and discovered it's a name in its own right going back to the 16th Century. It was also my great aunt's name although it was short for something (can't remember what as she was known at Kitty).

MamaLazarou · 25/11/2011 15:18

It's a bit contrived. Attica's OK, Kitty's OK, but I'm really not a fan of choosing one name and then actually calling them another.

No - emphatically NO!

UterusUterusGhali · 24/11/2011 21:42

I like it.

I thouht I had heard it somewhere though, and I think it's the prison.^^

Google tells me it's an old part of Greece though.

I love Kitty too.

IslaValargeone · 24/11/2011 21:36

No No and thrice No. Anyone else hearing Al Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon chanting Attica Attica!
It's a maximum security prison housing serial killers love, stick with Kitty.

I have a Kitty & she's exactly that.... KITTY!! Smile

NewsClippings · 24/11/2011 17:36

Not to my taste I'm afraid. Attics and cat's name - sorry.

Montsti · 24/11/2011 15:16

I like it, but it's the first time I've heard of it. Love Atticus too! Kitty is very cute..

ChateauMargot · 24/11/2011 14:52

Husband likes Attica (there's an American writer with the same name) and we both like Kitty. Wanted a longer alternative on the birth certificate, and not fond of Katherine or Kathleen (which, if we're talking phonetics, actually bear less even resemblance to Kitty!)

Hm.

I didn't know it was a name. But it shortens to Ticcy, not Kitty.

Catsmamma · 24/11/2011 14:47

Kitty is fine, Attica...not so much

Attica, Cattica, Kittica, Kitty.....is that how it goes?

MelinaM · 24/11/2011 14:47

I like Attica, reminds me of the darling Mr Atticus FinchSmile

Not sure about the nn Kitty though.

Kayano · 24/11/2011 14:46

I'm sure we had a similarly named loft company Blush

ElderberrySyrup · 24/11/2011 14:45

The company that did our loft conversion was called Attica.

(They did a very good job, though, if that helps.)
