Is the devil-child association just too strong? Is it insurmountable? :)

My dh's best friend is a Damien - not a problem at all for him - in fact his number plate is 666 Smile

Also, damien is the son of Rodney off only fools and horses. Dell Boy thinks he's a devil child too.

damien is Delboys and Raquel's son Rodney and Cassandra has a baby girl named Joan.

I would not do it but not because of the Devil connections simply because I do not like it has a name I find it harsh and unplesant to say. I adore Lilith as a name

theincredibequeenofwands · 26/11/2011 17:54

Liz Hurley's ex wasn't a jackal though.

Or was he? Been a while since I've read Heat magazine and similar and am shamefully out of the loop....

Anyway, I wouldn't name my son Damien.

It seemed fitting that Elizabeth Hurley (nothing against her or her DS) named her child Damien as the boy's father was hardly portrayed in a positive light (the "devil's child"...hmm...)...

chocolaterainbow · 26/11/2011 02:57

Bob Marley requested a change of the spelling of his youngest sons name from Damien to Damian when he was about 2 years old because of the devil child connections.

Jux · 26/11/2011 02:46

Well that went badly wrong! D a m i a n might work (without the spaces) oh you know what I mean Blush

Jux · 26/11/2011 02:44

I know a Damian too. Runs his very successful business, has a wonderful family, very charming and lovely chap.

You must make itmDamian though or the spell won't work Grin

PinkFondantFancy · 26/11/2011 01:07

I love it. I know a Damian and he has a great job and is not devilish in the slightest.

farmerswifey · 23/11/2011 15:18

I like it. I have a friend named Damien who is a high court judge, so it hasn't held him back at all.

Alas many years ago, long before we thought about having a baby, my husband and I made a deal; If I could name the dog, he could name our first born. We found out this morning that we are pregnant and already he is asking if what I think of Ebenezzer.....

Went to a wedding a few years ago and when the groom's full name was read out there was an audible shuffle in the congregation. Best avoided, I think. It seemed everyone in that Church got the devil connotation loud and clear.

Makes me think of Damien Hirst.

I don't do scary films though.

Camerondiazepam · 23/11/2011 13:44

There's a 5yo Myra at school with my DD1, I've never heard anyone mention the to me blindingly obvious connection. Grin

helpwiththis · 23/11/2011 13:35

i love it. i like lilith too like the poster above. u wnt have to worry abt other children with the same name in his class

marge2 · 23/11/2011 12:01

There's a little Damien in Rec at our school. He is one naughty little kid!! There's something to do with that name - I swear it. Don't do it!

Also I can only seem to hear it in my head with a Scouse accent.

Toobluntforboss · 23/11/2011 11:59

I love Damien and it's still popular in Ireland. Go for it if you like it!

ChineapplePunk · 23/11/2011 11:58

I like Damon too, but the Damon and Debbie connection also resonates with me. Funny, you'd think the devil connection would bother me more. :)

I know a few Damiens, am in NI. I think its a lovely name.

Is it not Damian with the "a" in the film? The only reason I think this is because when my aunt got my cousin Damian christened the priest mentioned it - it was a pleasant moment Hmm. Oh I don't like Damon at all, its a surname to me, or Damon and Debbie from Brookside but I'm really old Grin

SacreLao · 23/11/2011 06:13

Ilove it but then I love Lilith and thats a demonic name as well.

You will get the jokes so it all depends on how that would bother you.

LynetteScavo · 22/11/2011 18:56

When DS1 was 8 his headmaster described him as "just like Damien from that film".

I've always tried really hard to take it as a compliment (we took him out of that school a few weeks laterGrin) and it is a nice name!

Isn't Liz Hurleys son called Damien?
