How woud you pronounce Linnea

It's from the latin name for a little pink and white flower in case you wondered. It sees rare use as a name in America apparently (where the flowers are more common, although they occur in Scotland too).

How would you pronounce it please?

Like Lin-naya or Lin-eeeya?

Guesses are fine. All answers very welcome.

Lin-ay-a (like the feminine if Linneus, the plant man).

Yep, Linear...like linear programming or the Linea line from House of Fraser.

GrimmaTheNome · 18/11/2011 23:06

Lin-ee-ah

isn't it a range of clothes at house of Fraser? Cookware too!

workshy · 18/11/2011 23:06

I would have pronounced it lin-eeeya if I saw it written down

which is correct?

AlfalfaMum · 18/11/2011 23:06

Lin-aya

beachyhead · 18/11/2011 23:05

Linear...like linear programming Smile

Freakyfroggie · 18/11/2011 23:04

If I saw it written I would say Lin-eeeya but think Lin-naya is much prettier.

screamingeels · 18/11/2011 23:04

Lin-eeya; isn't it a range of clothes at house of Fraser?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/11/2011 23:03

It's the name of a clothing brand in House of Fraser, although there it only has one 'N.' Probably the former pronunciation - but I really don't like it as a name, sorry.
