Which option is the best? What do you think?

Only 1 person has pronounced Lila as Leela....and in 14 months I guess that's pretty good going! No one has said Laila. If you had concerns over pronounciation you could go with Lyla, same name and more obvious to pronounce! I hope you decide soon :)

Thank you for all posts! We are thinking about Lilia now or maybe we will stay with Lila.

Thanks for your answer ammieninetyone :) How do people prounance Lila? We have also little Lila and sometimes people call her Leela or Laila...That's why we are thinking about changing it for Lilia which we also like.

Love Lila.

Not Lily - please no more Lily's

CupOfGoodCheer · 19/11/2011 15:37

booboostoo that's a coincidence, my niece is Lilia Charlotte Smile

CupOfGoodCheer · 19/11/2011 15:35

I have a niece called Lilia, 4 weeks old and this is the only other time I have heard the name...

whereas every third child in school seems to be called Lily...

Depends whether you're going for different, popular, or just what you like!

Beamur · 18/11/2011 22:46

I know a Lilia and think its lovely. Lily is lovely too but very popular, Lila is more unusual.

ammieninetyone · 18/11/2011 22:43

I have a Lila, it's a very pretty name with very old origins meaning playful in an ancient language Sanskrit. Lily and Lilia both very lovely names, although I think Lilia has too many syllables for the number of letters, and my only issue with Lily is the number of little girls with that name. I chose Lila Erin thinking I was onto a winning combination of not too common and not too unusual...then a colleague and his wife had a baby girl 6 months later and named her Lyla! (a long standing choice for them, and we had never discussed names!) so, as long as you live far enough away from us that we won't have matching Lila's I think you should go with that :-)

p.s. my first ever post on here, didn't expect to find Lila on the threads!

I have a lovely Lilah (pronounced like Deliah). This is a traditional victorian name (origins persian I think), popular at the same time Florence's etc were around in 1890s or so. So pretty, traditional and not made up!

EstroGena · 18/11/2011 20:36

I have a Lily and she has a fabulous personality and is ultra cute!!! Smile

lollystix · 17/11/2011 02:33

I would go for Lila as Lily so overused IMO. I like Leonie (pronounced La-o-ney) personally - bit different. Knew one at school and she was very cool.

lottiegb · 16/11/2011 23:49

Lilian, then shorten as you wish.

FairyArmadillo · 16/11/2011 23:43

Lily. I know it's popular but it's still a lovely name.

RonnieBirtles · 16/11/2011 20:48

Lily. yes it is the most common by far, but it is also a lovely, simple, classic name.

Lila is a bit made-up sounding. Leila is nicer.

Lilia sounds vaguely Eastern European. OK, but doesnt grab me.

Lilia sounds like a sanitary towel.

Clawdy · 16/11/2011 17:13

Lily's such a pretty name but there are four in my DD's class. Lilia is lovely.

3isamagicnumber · 16/11/2011 15:46

I like Lily and Lilia though would go for the latter as Lily is much more popular.

GraciousLife · 16/11/2011 14:00

I like Lila

BuntyPenfold · 16/11/2011 13:32

Lily

iloveberries · 16/11/2011 12:06

lilia

Booboostoo · 16/11/2011 11:00

DD is Lily with Charlotte as a second name so she could be Lily-Charlotte if she wanted to or even Charlie...so I am a bit partial to Lily!

LulaBear · 16/11/2011 10:33

Got to be Lily, beautiful name

halecromp · 16/11/2011 09:57
