Hello ladies, Just wondering which of the following is your favourite name for my baby boy? All feedback and any new suggestions really welcome!! These have been my favourites for a while

Noah
Alex
Jacob
Rafferty
Henry

I also like Oliver (but cant have), William, George (cant have).

I do like classical/traditional names and quite like shorter names- Noah and Alex- or names with good nickname potential- Raffy. Quite like Wilfred nn Wilf but OH hates. Hate names i personally consider pretentious like Barnaby etc.

I have a feeling I will have 2 boys in me too so I would like to think about whether the names fit well with each other.

THANK YOU! Sorry for the essay!!!
Lora xx

Rafferty is one of DD's middle names. It's fab.

GlitzAndGiggles · 03/02/2014 07:56

There's an Alex in my family. Just that on its own as oppose to Alexander. So I'm being biased and going with Alex. Not too keen on the others apart from Jacob. Sorry but Henry always reminds me of the hoover!

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 03/02/2014 07:47

We have a 5yr old jacob. I don't mind Jake so much but my dh has never been keen on it. I HATE Jay. But, 5yr old Jacob would be the very first to correct anyone who called him Jake.
That may all change during teenage years but that will be the least of your worries! Wink
I also love Alexander and my Jacob was very nearly an Alex

HopeS01 · 02/02/2014 21:51

My cousin has a baby Noah and his nickname is Nonny.
VERY cute

TheJumped · 01/02/2014 20:17

Lovely names list OP! Just lurking for ideas as I have a classic biblical boy already and want something a little more interesting this time round, and love all your choices and others' suggestions. Personally I like Rafferty but it seems quite a few people find it poncy or frilly, so not sure I'd be brave enough - it does go well with your surname though.

neverenoughwine · 01/02/2014 14:15

Jude perhaps?

neverenoughwine · 01/02/2014 14:14

Love Rafferty, the ex wouldn't let me have Rafferty. Super name

Also like Alistair (Ali)
Gabriel (Gabe or Gaby)
Sebastien (Seb)
Nathan or Nathaniel (Nath or Nate)
Christopher (Kit)

Or how about Seth.... gorgeous!

GinUtero · 31/01/2014 20:30

Sounds like you have very similar taste in boy's names to me OP.

Love Rafferty, Alex and Jacob.

I really like Marlow too.

jazzyjenbo · 31/01/2014 17:54

I have a noah and love it, named him before it became popular and am now hearing it alot.
Be warned noah is set to increase about 1million% this year.. There was an increase when resent celebs such as michael buble names their sons noah and now a blockbuster film entitled NOAH staring russell crow will hit our screens in the summer.
I like all others on ur list apart from rafferty.. Reminds me of 'cats'

noodlebum · 31/01/2014 10:40

Noah my favourite Smile

floatyflo · 30/01/2014 22:28

Oh god no not Noah. Not my favourite boys name and my ds's name at all. Don't want such an awful name to get popular, oooh noooo!
Wink

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 30/01/2014 22:19

ilovesprouts · 19/11/2011 19:55

zumm · 19/11/2011 19:52

Eh? Jay is v cool.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 19/11/2011 08:13

Yes, Jay is awful.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 19/11/2011 08:12

Love Rafferty but does NOT go with our surname. Use it for me, will you?!

Other than that, the only other name on your list that I love is Jacob/Jake.

comedaygoday · 19/11/2011 07:59

Noah isn't chavvy. It isn't made up or kreativly spelt and you wouldn't be naming your son after a designer or make of car.

Lora69 · 18/11/2011 22:17

I think we may use Rafferty for our future dog- a scruffy looking Tibetan Terrier or Havanese. Asked oH and he doesnt think he would use the name on our son :( :(

For our baby, I want a name which is open to becoming any type of person if that makes sense, but a bit sensitive/emotionally intelligent. Hence why i seem to like slightly softer names like Noah and Jacob.

I like Noah a lot but am concerned whether some people consider it so called chavvy and will it become easily dated? Not sure if Noah Shailes is strong enough.

Love Jacob, as does nan and she likes Jake, but my OH hates Jake. I would use Jacob mostly, Jake sometimes and I HATE Jay- if it became this I would be really upset as Jacob is beautiful already.

Jacob is a version of my partners name so we have a link there.

Alexander is the name of my passed Grandpa so again special. Like Alex, HATE Al.

Henry is the name of my childhood (ok, teenage) teddy bear, and seems really popular atm so we prob wont go for this okne tho I do love it. Also- is Horrid Henry everywhere?

Love Jacob! Noah is cute too. Like max, George and Zachary nn zac also.

comedaygoday · 14/11/2011 12:21

Noah: Great, like a lot.
Alex: OK, but Alexander nn Alex is better.
Jacob: Great, like a lot.
Rafferty: Twee and faddy. The weakest of your choices.
Henry: Nice, but Harry is very common.so.I would avoid.
