To be called Barney but Barnaby on birth certificate. Middle name Daniel...

Love it - but dp hates it. We had 2 dds though!

LAbaby · 12/11/2011 18:13

Yes

BeanaReena · 12/11/2011 17:43

Yes.

WhoahThereCrazyHorse · 12/11/2011 15:34

Brilliant - I am saving this thread for when I get pregnant with dc2 (hopefully soonish). When we had DD - obviously before we knew she was a girl - this was our agreed boy's name, but DH was having second thoughts and was building himself up to veto it I think!

A barney is an argument, isn't it?

mayanna123 · 11/11/2011 15:18

I think B.B. are great initials, sillymilly.

NoHunIntended · 11/11/2011 15:07

'Tis my brother's name, I am well-used to it so may be biased, but I do love it.
I always wonder if those who say they know a Barney and think he is nice, are referring to my DB!
We sometimes called him Buzz as a nn when he was small, which is cool, imho!

So, that's a yes vote from me!

sillymillyb · 11/11/2011 14:47

I love this! I got quite hormonally upset a few weeks ago because my surname begins with B and I couldn't have it as a first name for my baby without it sounding odd. Am now trying to work it into the middle name!

Bluebell99 · 11/11/2011 14:38

I don't like it tbh. But I do really like Daniel.

Possibly because ALL reception classes in Ds' school had 3 or 4 Barnaby Bears. And I've seen other people whose children presumably go to different schools from my son refer to their class Barnaby Bears too.

mayanna123 · 11/11/2011 14:20

"Also every class has a Barnaby (or 4) and you get given one to photograph over half terms and holidays in reception."

Every class has a stuffed animal, yes. But none of them were called Barnaby or Barney in my kids' classes - their names included Horatio, Alex, Mr McRavish to Oliver. So I don't know why you'd think they'd all be called Barnaby Hmm?

3isamagicnumber · 11/11/2011 13:51

Wouldnt be on my shortlist (wouldnt go with our suraname for a start) but I do quite like it.
Barnaby is much better than Barney though.

oohlaalaa · 11/11/2011 13:43

Love Barnaby. I have met a very gorgeous Barnabas, who everyone calls Barney

CurwySwide · 11/11/2011 13:27

Love Barnaby but wouldn't like it shortened to Barney (a la big purple dinosaur).

Redrubyblue · 11/11/2011 12:43

Was one of my favourite childrens' programmes.Smile

MelinaM · 11/11/2011 12:25

Yes, I love BarnabySmile

Sparklingbrook · 11/11/2011 12:23

Thank you Redrubyblue. Do you remember it? Or is it just me that's old? I used to love the programme soo much.

mistlethrush · 11/11/2011 12:19

Yes. The Singing Bear.

Also every class has a Barnaby (or 4) and you get given one to photograph over half terms and holidays in reception. Ours had to make do with a day out locally, whilst some others were whisked off to exotic locations.

essexgirl31 · 11/11/2011 12:19

Moffit · 11/11/2011 12:14

Yes - Its lovely!

Sparklingbrook · 11/11/2011 12:12

Oh I had forgotten-is that bear with a backpack that's been on recently called Barnaby too mistlethrush?

Still like the name though.

mistlethrush · 11/11/2011 12:09

Provided that you are prepared to do a detailed diary with photos of him posing in all sorts of locations (around the house, neighbourhood or on holiday) with appropriate annotations.... Please watch 10 episodes of Barnaby Bear first - if you can still bear the name (pun intended) by the end of that, its a good name for you to use Grin

LaFilleSurLePont · 11/11/2011 12:05

A definite no.Barnaby is dreadful. I don't liike Barney either.
