If you could choose just one boys name as your all time favourite- what would it be?

We are really stuck on a name for DS2. We already have DS1 who is Joseph, we loved this name from day one and never ever had any doubts throughout the pregnancy and when he was born it just 'fit' and suited him perfectly. I think I love his name so much that thinking of another I like as much is impossible!

Currently names we like but don't LOVE are:
Thomas
Henry
Oliver

All fairly traditional and popular names but my question is if you could pick just ONE boys name, unusual, popular or traditional, what would it be??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like Oliver from your list,
I have a Samuel Louis (louis after his Grandad) and a Alex Joseph who was actually going to be called Joseph. But I grew very found of the name 'Alex' after watching Madagascar for the the 100th time with ds1 lol. If I were to have another boy I would love the name Jacob or Jack.

My all time fave is probably Gregory. But should we ever have a son it would practically rhyme with our surname (think Gregory Ledbury, it would be similar!) so that's out.

I love Joseph but it's so popular (as evidenced here!) and also Evan.

Well as I have a Tomás Jose (Thomas Joseph) you'll get nothing but a big Grin at your chosen names.

Psammead · 10/11/2011 17:44

James

Or Partick or Alexander.

redyam · 10/11/2011 17:34

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 10/11/2011 16:21

Also like Gregory and Alec.

Ghoulwithadragontattoo · 10/11/2011 16:20

Benjamin

Also Patrick, Nathaniel, Elliott and Finlay.

kitsmummy · 10/11/2011 15:59

Kit is the best boys name ever Grin

Tinkerisdead · 10/11/2011 15:57

Elliott. But my dc2 is likely to be a henry. I love linton and lysander too but cant get them past dh.

potbellyqueen · 10/11/2011 15:16

James is my favourite boys name - DS is James Edward because the 2 names just sounded right together.

Henry would be a very close second for me, and it goes nicely with Joseph without being matchy-matchy.

PiranhaMorgana · 10/11/2011 15:14

DS is Isaac Rhydian (Welsh name, sounds like Gideon )and is always known as Rhyds.

oohlaalaa · 10/11/2011 15:12

Matthew, Hugh and William.

GreenOlives · 10/11/2011 15:03

Ooh and Edward is another lovely name.

GreenOlives · 10/11/2011 15:02

Max (my DS's name) I still love it as much as when we picked it.
I also love Harry, Issac, Joseph, Thomas and Theo.

Bicnod · 10/11/2011 14:56

We have an Oscar and a James - I love both their names but if I had to choose my favourite (name, not DS!) it would be Oscar.

MamaLazarou · 10/11/2011 14:56

Marlon. It's just so hunky and cool. My first ever boyfriend, at primary school, was called Marlon and I have loved the name ever since!

jandymaccomesback · 10/11/2011 14:39

Matthew

Whizkidwithacrazystreak · 10/11/2011 14:30

William would sound nice with Joseph.

My husband is Joseph and we have Jack and Oscar.

deaconblue · 10/11/2011 14:28

Edward is my all time favourite boy's name. He can be Teddy, Ted, Eddie, Ed, Ned, Edward. I also taught for 10 yrs and every Edward I taught was gentle, kind and intelligent

leftmydignityatthedoor · 10/11/2011 14:24

Well...my kids have Scottish names so on that theme I would choose Lachlan as my favourite or maybe Fergus.

However, I also like elijah, reuben, theo and dan.
