If you could choose just one boys name as your all time favourite- what would it be?

We are really stuck on a name for DS2. We already have DS1 who is Joseph, we loved this name from day one and never ever had any doubts throughout the pregnancy and when he was born it just 'fit' and suited him perfectly. I think I love his name so much that thinking of another I like as much is impossible!

Currently names we like but don't LOVE are:
Thomas
Henry
Oliver

All fairly traditional and popular names but my question is if you could pick just ONE boys name, unusual, popular or traditional, what would it be??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry-in reply to having Joseph and Jude.

exoticfruits · 11/11/2011 07:28

I don't think they will thank you when older and a letter comes for Mr J Smith and they haven't a clue which it is for.

DS1 is also Joseph - I loved it when we picked it 19 years ago and I still love it now although he is known to his friends as Joe. DS2 is Jack which we picked despite its popularity at the time because it is a strong family name on both sides.

Digging around in my own family history revealed the name Samson which cropped up time and again. I love it and had I known this at the time of DS2's birth, I may well have given him this name instead. DS2 tells me he is very pleased I didn't. Grin

Jude from me too - and it would go perfect with Joseph...

And its a very cool name, IMO of course :)

Sorry, I see I was supposed to pick just one. Confused And it must be my all-time favourite, which I cannot do as I am too fickle and indecisive. But I still really love Rory after 19 years of having a DS called it, whereas I have gorn orf the name of my second child, and blow hot and cold with the third one.

tummytickler · 11/11/2011 06:21

I love my first sons name (Elijah/Eli) but ds2 has got my favourite name of all time, it just took ages to win dh 'round to it - Amos. Love, love, love it!

Keane

If I'd had another boy he would have been called Keane (hoping I can influence names of grandbabies if I they ever arrive)

[seriously considers changing DS1's name by deed poll to free up Jonathan]

Jonathan is my fave Smile.

NotTheOneWhoIsntTheOtherOne · 10/11/2011 23:57

Moonbells- me too-I love it, but think I arsed up as gave DS the mn "John" (family name) so I can't really call DS2 Jonty, can I? What if DS1 decides he doesn't like his first name and wants to be called John? Then I'd have John and Jonty? Too weird.

moonbells · 10/11/2011 23:54

I adore Jonathan, so I was gutted when DH said he really didn't like it for DS.
Then I suggested Samuel, but no luck there either.
