If you could choose just one boys name as your all time favourite- what would it be?

We are really stuck on a name for DS2. We already have DS1 who is Joseph, we loved this name from day one and never ever had any doubts throughout the pregnancy and when he was born it just 'fit' and suited him perfectly. I think I love his name so much that thinking of another I like as much is impossible!

Currently names we like but don't LOVE are:
Thomas
Henry
Oliver

All fairly traditional and popular names but my question is if you could pick just ONE boys name, unusual, popular or traditional, what would it be??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Lysander

Clearly my post is no help to you choosing as you already have a Joseph! Couldn't help contributing to the thread Grin

My DS is Benjamin, which gets shortened to ben......I call him Ben-bo Baggins!!

SmethWitchBelle · 11/11/2011 15:37

Joseph is my favourite. Its versatile and sounds nice. Joe is cute or you can use the long version which is a classic.

JeanieBueller · 11/11/2011 15:23

James, no question - has been my favourite name since I was about 11 and my best friend at school was a lovely James.

Also like

Edward
Michael (we have a surname that this just would not work with!)
Thomas
Daniel
Benedict

Sandra2011 · 11/11/2011 13:58

I have Henry & William

3isamagicnumber · 11/11/2011 13:57

Joseph - though I probably wouldnt actually go with it in the end as its too similar to a relatives name plus DH doesnt like it shortened to Joe which it inevitably would be.

suzydelarosa · 11/11/2011 13:37

I'm very partial to:

ELLIOT
DUKE

The latter was my fave choice for a boy as Duke de la Rosa sounds cool!

I have a friend who named her son PIRATE. Now that's something else! Really dislike Jayden, it's just awful. And there are also too many 5 year old boys named Hamish/Magnus/Fergus/Fraser/Lewis running around my daughter's scottish school. I always feel they should be wearing tweed jackets and smoking a pipe!

MaknCheese · 11/11/2011 13:08

I have two boys and their names were our absolute favorite.

Hayden
Wyatt

Other choices were
Adrian
Logan
Christian

Ellis

exoticfruits "I don't think they will thank you when older and a letter comes for Mr J Smith and they haven't a clue which it is for"

We all have the initial J and same surname. Very confusing when post arrives!

Socy · 11/11/2011 11:19

We've also got a Freddie (named after his late grandfather). If DD had been a boy then she would probably have been Rufus Heath.

spamm · 11/11/2011 10:39

Michael
Samuel
Daniel

Our Ds is Daniel, because we already have 3 Michaels in the family, and Samuel really did not work with our initials - I could not subject him to that.

glastochick · 11/11/2011 10:27

Mungo, but we have a cat called Mungo so that's been ruled out as a boy's name.

DS is Sander, and it really suits him.

I also love Ivor (my grandfather's name), but DH doesn't

Lollyheart · 11/11/2011 09:47

Love Owen, Fraser and Jacob. My 3 ds name.

RIZZ0 · 11/11/2011 09:45

Actually I came very close to calling DS Gabriel, I do really love it. Just didn't want him to have to deal with pathetic "Gay" nicknames. Shame as its a beautiful name.

KatharineClifton · 11/11/2011 09:32

I bet Jesus is mentioned more Grin

Pinot · 11/11/2011 09:28

Just did a search function to see how many times my 3 sons names are mentioned on here.

Alot! Wink

knittynoodle · 11/11/2011 09:19

Raif/Raife/Ralph actually means Wolf. I love it.

IvyAndGold · 11/11/2011 09:06

You can't make me pick one, that's too mean!

Angus, or Gray, or Ralph. I like Felix too. And Adam. And Alexander and Patrick.

OK, OK, one name... nnnyuhhh... I'll go with Angus, I've loved it for the longest, and am most likely to get it with Scottish DP Grin

hiddennamo · 11/11/2011 08:58

Finlay and Angus
