Exp DC4, are my hormones in overdrive, or is this a pretty name? CC as a nn?

To go with Alexander nn Xander, William nn Will and Eleanor nn Ella?

Also like Cecily but dont think it goes as well with other DC. Can anyone suggest anything similar along those lines?

Thanks! Grin

love Cecilia and Sisi as a NN. The music connection is nice, though I suppose might be a but Hmm if she turns out to be tone-deaf! I also really like the S&G song which is competing with the Jools Holland show in my head now!

spidgel · 08/11/2011 22:15

Hi morethemerrier.
I also have an Alexander and a William ( and an Ava).
Love Cecilia. Very pretty name. Also what about Celeste or Lydia as alternatives?

sfxmum · 08/11/2011 22:14

it is a very beautiful and classic name

Towndon · 08/11/2011 22:09

I hardly know the song. The name has been around a lot longer :)

AberdeenAngusina · 08/11/2011 22:05

I'm down on my knees, I'm begging you please...

I think only those of us of a certain age would associate it with the song, so don't let that put you off. It's a lovely name.

SaffronCake · 08/11/2011 20:35

This is one of those names I feel really torn about. I love it to bits, but the blind thing is tricky. If it came down to it I probably would use it because who really knows that except us name obsessive sorts on MN anyway?

morethemerrier · 08/11/2011 11:46

I cant believe it,talk about an omen! Just seen an advert for the series Imagine on BBC tonight about Simon and Garfunkel with the background music of 'Cecilia youre breaking my heart........'!!!??!! Grin

Strange!

Thankyou everybody, a lot more positive comments than I thought! Grin

I had to google the song, not sure how well known it is to be relevant tbh but I can see how it could sway some people away from it,very racy isnt it! LOL!

Its on the list and is my fave so far, thanks again and nice to hear so many fond memories of relatives with the same name! Smile

Nice name but the meaning would put me off.

BibiBelle · 07/11/2011 18:46

She was also the patron saint of Music which cancels out the blind meaning for us Grin

Montsti · 07/11/2011 11:41

I like it but immediately think of the song as per a few above comments/lyrics! It is an immensely annoying song a la Tom Jones' Delilah, but that would be the only problem for me. I think it goes well with your other DC's names too.

amandine07 · 07/11/2011 11:11

I do think Cecilia is a really pretty name...also I do like the french name Cecile which I think is lovely.

Staverton · 07/11/2011 08:52

I absolutely love it but it means blind in case meanings matter to you

cornelia1 · 07/11/2011 08:49

I think Cecilia is a lovely name.

Rhubarbgarden · 07/11/2011 08:38

Lovely, but I do prefer Cecily and I think it goes fine with the others.

nooka · 07/11/2011 06:05

My aunt is a Cecilia I think it is a very nice name, and goes well with your other names. Actually I think Cecily does too.

RillaBlythe · 07/11/2011 05:02

Making love in the afternoon.

Tortington · 06/11/2011 21:32

i adore it

Xmasbaby11 · 06/11/2011 21:31

I don't like Celia or Cecelia - very fussy and old sounding. Cece or similar sounds a bit more modern.

Towndon · 06/11/2011 20:15

Cecilia is lovely, very pretty. Much nicer than Cecily and Celia which are lumpier and don't flow as nicely.

BibiBelle · 06/11/2011 20:13

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it!!! It's DD2's middle name and have we known there was going to be a DD3 we would have kept it and used Cece.

Lovely names all round we have an Isabella (Ella) and Alexandra (Lexie)
