Genevieve- vivi for short.
India- love this but dm has been vocal about her dislike Angry
Annabel- our compromise name, nothing wrong with it.
Arabella- we both like.
Serena- 4yo ds fave name, don't know where it cameConfused from we don't know any and he goes to a boys school but it has grown on me.

Theo- both like not love.
Hugo- love this but we have a h surname.
Ellis- this is a recent I'm not sure.

Stuck for boys names so any suggestions most definitely welcome. Any thoughts on above?

Genevieve and Hugo are my faves. I managed to wear my DH after giving birth - it'll be easy!

brianmayshair · 02/11/2011 09:26

Thank you Vivian. I'm pretty much decided on Hugo going to work on Dh he doesn't hate it but is worried about the alliteration. I quite like Hugo Ellis and it works well with my other dc names.

For the girls names i'm thinking probably Arabella but will have to see what she looks like if she is a she and will need a middle name perhaps Eve? Arabella Eve?
Arabella ??

Ewan is nice but know quite a few.

Ewan is nice lots of them around now.

reelingintheyears · 01/11/2011 23:29

Ewan is a very good name.

But you can't use it because it's gone!

waves back again! i have a dd now tho! 10mths old, and still the 4boys of course, i cant believe ds4 is 3 and will be starting school next sept Shock

lemniscate · 01/11/2011 20:46

we were on the March 08 board together, when I was HolidaysQueen

4madboys · 01/11/2011 20:18

our ds is a theodore btw, but theo for short :)

4madboys · 01/11/2011 20:17

we almost called our 10mth old dd Genevieve but i KNOW it would be shortened to Gen/jen which i dont like! she is a Merryn :)

Theo is lovely, i have one!

i like Ellis, we had Emmett for dd had she been a boy, but she wasnt, to our surpise!

our ds2 was max for a day and then nameless for a week when he became an oscar reuben :)

just wear your dh down, you give birth, you choose Grin

Towndon · 01/11/2011 20:13

Genevieve can have Evie as a nickname, but Eve/Evie/Ava/Eva are very popular at the moment.

Montsti · 01/11/2011 19:59

Yes I also have reservations about Dominic. Ultimately hope you get your first choices - am sure DH will give in!

mathanxiety · 01/11/2011 19:58

Genevieve- this would end up as Jen, Jenna, Jenny. How about Vivienne if you like Vivi?
India- It's becoming very common where I live anyway
Annabel- Love. I think it's a sweet name without being too frilly
Arabella- A bit frilly, and the name of Donald Trump's granddaughter
Serena- Lovely name but Serena Christina is truly a name only a 4 yo could love. How about Serena Christine though?

Theo- Theodore nicer imo
Hugo- Lovely and I see no problem at all with the H surname
Ellis- A bit girly imo.

I love Sam and Leo.

brianmayshair · 01/11/2011 19:52

*too many

India and Hugo I like from your lists.

The others not so keen on...

threecurrantbuns · 01/11/2011 19:50

Out of the girls Annabel.

I have a Hugo and love the name but I do get what you mean about the surname thing I've avoided calling any of mine a name which has the same first letter as our surname.

Almost makes the name sound like a stage name.

Really like Theo too I would go for Theodore personally and Theo for short

brianmayshair · 01/11/2011 19:50

I'm trying not to out myself to much too Grin. Big no to Dominic for to many reasons to mention.

I also like Jago but am not sure about the reaction it would get, wish I was brave but had a wobble with dd's name when a couple of people made commented.

Montsti · 01/11/2011 19:45

Ha ha this is getting funny!

lemniscate · 01/11/2011 19:41

Just to out myself evenmore, my ds is Leo Grin

Montsti · 01/11/2011 19:37

I also like Hugo but not as much as some of the others. Dominic?

brianmayshair · 01/11/2011 19:15

Ha you are on the right track sam and Leo are dhs faces I'm not so sure but I think that's because I love Hugo so much, i'm hoping to wear him down, worked with max Grin

OP posts:
Montsti · 01/11/2011 19:11

Well at least I'm on the right track with the boys names! There are other names I really like (some equally as or more popular than the above but don't think they go as well with Max). A few more suggestions that, in my opinion work with Max:

Sam (Samuel)
Oscar
Leo
Finn (Finlay)

Thanks lemniscate- I really like vivi but dislike gen and genny I'm not sure how easy it would be to avoid those.

montsi- funnily enough my dad suggested ben but I know too many people I dislike called ben.
Love Zac but it's a close friends ds
Ds was going to be a Charlie and have now completely gone off it although tbh it was dh's choice
Colleague is calling her baby Tom and we could never have a Harry with out surname in fact dh was going to be a Harry and the Mw put her foot down apparently and told Ils it was cruel.

I actually really like Hugo with out surname it is Dh that has the problem with it, everyone I have mentioned it too also likes it.

Lemniscate - I don't think Genevieve is chavvy at all (if anything in the UK quite posh - am not saying that is negative though) as a name just always have this image of chavs pronouncing it in a chavvy way which ruins the name completely (probably because of the conception association)...your other nns are so much nicer than Gen too!

Montsti · 01/11/2011 18:30

Lovely name. Definitely stick with my original girl's name choices then. Arabella no.1.

I think Theo goes best with Max of your boys names, but also the following:

Ben (Benjamin)
Zac (Zachary/Isaac)
Charlie (Charles)
Freddie (maybe Alfred/Frederick)
Tom (Thomas)
Harry

I know they are "popular" but just think they work really well with Max.
