Alba, Allegra or Quinn?

I have just found out that I am expecting another baby Grin

We are settled on our boys name, but Alba, Allegra and Quinn are my favourite girls names. What do you all think?

I love Alba also like Allegea and Quinn but my order would be Alba Allegra Quinn for preference

NowNowThen · 29/10/2011 17:38

Quinn and Alba are awful, imo. Allegra is OK - a bit hard, though.

SaffronCake · 29/10/2011 17:34

Quinn is a boys name to me. Alba immediately registers as Scotland in my mind. Allegra is really lovely

Don't worry about the car, they stopped making it in 1983, no one in her peer group will have seen one. Her friends grandparents might have driven one, her friends parents might just have ridden in one when they were small. If any even survive now they're probably appreciating rapidly. The allegro reference is not going to chase her round the playground.

I know a little boy called Quinn and love it but think it's too harsh for a girl..

I like both Alba and Allegra - probably prefer Allegra though..

Psammead · 29/10/2011 10:51

I absolutely love them all. But I have no idea what Glee is, so maybe that's not helpful.

I think Allegra us my fave, then Alba, then Quinn.

What is your boy's name, if you don't mind me asking? You seem to have great taste.

bruffin · 29/10/2011 10:15

Alba - Time Travellers Wife
Quinn - Glee
Allegra - car

scarevola · 29/10/2011 10:09

Quinn is a boys name, and rather too like "quim" for me to choose it.

Alba doesn't really do it for me.

Allegra is a fantastic name.

hocuspontas · 29/10/2011 10:07

Alba is a cheap make of stereo from my teenage years. Avoid!

stripeybumpinthenight · 29/10/2011 10:05

Alba also means Scotland.

scarlettlips · 29/10/2011 10:03

I quite like Quinn...but from your list Allegra gets my vote.

What about Avery?

Congratulations on BFP Grin

LottieBronte · 29/10/2011 09:31

I've just been reading about Lord Byron and his illegitimate daughter Allegra (Clara Allegra known as Allegra) was initially named Alba by her mother. Apparantly it also means 'dawn' as well as 'white'. Just odd to see the two names together on a post so soon after I read about it.

I think out of the three I prefer Allegra but Alba is nice also.

Quinn is quite masculine. Maybe as a mn - Allegra Quinn?

Congratulations and good luck finding a name.

BedatHogwarts · 29/10/2011 09:19

Allegra is lovely and classy. Alba is one of those names closely linked with a word, in this case white. So it might look a bit contrived if your DD is very pale, and odd if she's dark. Quinn is too much like quim.

Allegra definitely the best imo.

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 29/10/2011 09:14

Agree Quinn is the nightmare from Glee. Alba is OK but Allegra is better.

WhoIsThatMaskedWoman · 29/10/2011 09:13

Quinn is awful and makes me think of that cow from Glee. The other two are fine, prefer Allegra.

Clary · 29/10/2011 09:12

Quinn sounds like a boy's name to me so that would put me off.

Alba is the girl in Time Traveller's Wife, a book I love; Allegra is nice too, unusual.
