7week old dd is called Kaiya, dp named her, I don't like it and was planning on using a nn but for the first time ever nothings come to me!

Dd1 has loads even though I like and use her real name also, so why can't I find one for dd2? They usually come so naturally to me, I'm one of those people who shorten everyones name!

Ooh yes! Def. go for Kiki, it was my nickname growing up.

It's slang for baby in Brazilian :)

(may have outed myself a bit there)

Thzumbazombiewitch · 30/10/2011 12:00

Kiki was my first thought too - love it. :)

usualsuspect · 30/10/2011 11:59

No idea sorry

but congratulations !

MurderBloodstabsandgore · 30/10/2011 11:57

MrsRetchingBloodAndGuts · 30/10/2011 11:56

I let dp have his name choice as one of us had to back down and i think he loved the name more than i loved my choices. one of us had to have a name we didnt love and i will defo name the next one.

She'd probably end up a Kissykins in my household.

tangledweb · 30/10/2011 08:01

Kiki or K sprang immediately to mind too, as it seems most MNetters on this thread share a brain!

FearfulYank · 30/10/2011 07:52

I think she was just saying that's how it's pronounced, as in, it rhymes with eye-ah, Chipping . It's probably kye-ah.

I love Kiki and was going to suggest that until everyone beat me to it. :) Iya, as in Isla without the L, is pretty too.

ChippingInAutumnLover · 30/10/2011 03:32

But aren't the k nn's missing the point when her name is pronounced eye-ahh??

I don't think anything works as a nn from her name, so I'd go with something completely different - middle name/pumpkin/something that grows on its own (such as egg)...

I still don't understand why you let your DH choose a name you don't love.

Italiangreyhound · 30/10/2011 01:29

Kiki is supercool! I love it. Also love Kizzie.

When I was a kid we had a programme called Hector's House. There was a frog called Kiki and a cat called Zaza. I mean it was cute and funny and is a good reason to use it, nothing negative.

Kiki
Koko
Kallie
Kizzy
Kit
Kim
Kia

What's her middle name?

Ebb · 28/10/2011 12:17

I immediately thought Kiki too. Fab nickname. [hsmile]

ShroudOfHamsters · 28/10/2011 12:13

Go for Kiki!

That is REALLY cool.

Don't worry about the name, really. I have a boring 70s name that I don't like, everyone knows me by the short form that I do like. Now I've named our DD an, errr, interesting name - which I do love, but can almost certainly predict that she won't... but it has a lovely, practical, pretty, easy shortening which is what she is known by.

Call her Kiki. And before long you'll find that she'll be Keeks, Keekins, Kikidee, Kikkles, Kikliboo, Kee-bee, you name it. Her 'nameness' will basically be the Kee sound, which is lovely - interesting, different, versatile. She'll just become that name.

Oh and you name the next one!

MrsRetchingBloodAndGuts · 28/10/2011 00:04

My cousin has just had a kayla!

Poor egg! Grin

I like Kiki, kitten and I love Kookie, I shall try them out tomorrow.

You've all been great, thank you

I immediately thought of Kiki when I saw the OP, then I see it's been suggested already. Sorted!

K/Kay/KK
Kitty/Kitten
Kazzy/Kassie
Kizzie
Koo
Kookie

crystalglasses · 27/10/2011 23:55

I like Kiki too. Or Kaila (but would be in danger of ending up as kayleigh)

Dirtydishesmakemesad · 27/10/2011 23:54

I like kai:)
My youngest dd is known as egg or "the egg" For two reasons firstly her name is emily that my okder daughter coukdnt say and used to say eggily and also in honour of the fact that she is possibly the only person ever to have choked on soft scrambled egg to the point of actually needing rushing to hospital in an ambulance. possibly a very odd reason for nickname but just reinfornced the earlier reason of daughter not saying plus relief that the scrambled egg did not win Grin tbh though as they get older we kind of lose the nicknames and end uo with shortened versions of their names, calling a 1 year old egg is fine calling a 13 year old is a bti odd.

HeresTheScaryThingBooyhoo · 27/10/2011 23:48

i would. i'm pig headed like that Grin

MrsRetchingBloodAndGuts · 27/10/2011 23:47

Tbf she doesn't actually look like a Leila. I must admit her name suits her.

MrsRetchingBloodAndGuts · 27/10/2011 23:45

Oh booy, don't tempt me! Grin

MrsRetchingBloodAndGuts · 27/10/2011 23:44

Can't change it custardo, her dad loves it and is so proud of his naming ability! I don't hate it I just don't love it and had counted on having a nn.
