And does it flow nicely enough because I've said it too many times to know now! Also like Winnie Emmeline but friends have scoffed

Thankyou! And we don't really mind Winnie the pooh or Winnie the witch connections!! Winnifred looks nice compared to Winifred actually!

Congrats OP. Winnifred Victoria is gorgeous!

latenightmum · 14/11/2011 22:58

makes me think of Winnie the Witch books

HappyAsEyeAm · 14/11/2011 16:05

Fern Britten's daughter is a Winnie. My granny was too. Nearly all names come back into fashion though - I would think more 'Winnie the Pooh' than 'old lady'.

ceeceeanne · 14/11/2011 05:15

She is Winifred Victoria and I LOVE it! So happy with my choice! Thanks all x

Love it!

exoticfruits · 03/11/2011 21:32

YES it is.

I wonder if people actually ask the old ladies if they like it-I don't know any who are happy with Winnie. It goes with Hilda, Mildred, Muriel, Ethel, Elsie-etc all dire.

DorisIsTheDarkDestroyer · 03/11/2011 21:31

Nellwyn is far better than winnie alone she can decide on Nell or winnie.

I have to say I prefer both Iris and Emmeline

Alouette · 03/11/2011 21:19

Vile. Sorry.

I like Guinnevere Iris though, you could call her Winnie as a nickname if you like it that much though

sheeplikessleep · 03/11/2011 21:09

I agree Ceeceeanne

ceeceeanne · 03/11/2011 17:44

That's ok sheep, Winnie Victoria is new fave. Think the classic Victoria modernises the Winnie if you know what I mean

I love Winnie. I know of a girl who is called Winnie and I think it's beautiful, slightly unusual but very pretty. (But then I like traditional names - Elsie is my favourite)

But I think Winnie Iris is a bit too old lady in combination, sorry.

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 03/11/2011 16:03

Iris is beautiful.

wineandcheese · 03/11/2011 15:57

I think Winnie Iris is a lovely name.
Winnie makes me think of the Wonder Years, too. Smile The character was very sweet.

SpringHeeledJack · 03/11/2011 14:10

there's two i's in the middle, so they sort of run into each other

winnIEIris

it sounds a bit wierd to me. mind you I can talk. One of my dds has too many Gs

Prunella79 · 03/11/2011 14:06

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/10/2011 22:15

in all honesty, I really don't like Winnie but LOVE Iris and Emmeline (prob not helpful!)

mathanxiety · 29/10/2011 17:12

Guinevere is lovely too and might lend itself to Winnie as a nn...

mathanxiety · 29/10/2011 17:11

oooh Hilda -- I love Hilda. I met a little Brunhilde (sp?) a few months ago. Love Tilda as a nn for Matilda too.

Gladys and Ethel -- bleurgh.

PinterestQueen · 29/10/2011 13:26

This is my Nanny's name and she hates it. I think that colours my opinion but it does have so many connotations.

Clawdy · 29/10/2011 12:52

Sorry, but have to say Winnie is awful,on a par with Hilda and Gladys and Ethel. Now I guess someone will say they love those names! Shock

Meglet · 29/10/2011 12:10

I love Winnie. I've known one child and one beautiful black lab with the name. The girls real name is Winter though, nn Winnie.

Iris is nice but I can see what you mean about it being old-ladyish.

CheekyChoppers · 29/10/2011 12:08

My middle name is Wynne and too be honest I've never liked it, not as a child or an adult. I'm glad its my middle name and not my first.

Having said that, if you love Winnie, you should use it and not be swayed by the opinion of others. Everyone has their own tastes and I'm sure plenty of people will love it!
