Luke?

Trying to come up with a name for no. 4 (sex unknown) that is due in less than 10 weeks. DH threw Luke into the mix at the weekend and I can't decide what I think of it - don't love it but don't hate it. I have never met someone with the name Luke, not that that matters just I don't have that initial name association with a person thing.

So what do others think of Luke?

I know lots of toddler lukes at the mo its not a "no other kids in the class with same name" option IMO

grumplestilskin · 18/10/2011 15:05

love ALL your other choices, good strong names, I find luke a very wet name

fedupofnamechanging · 18/10/2011 15:04

I love it and much prefer it to your other choices. It's sufficiently unusual, without being too 'out there' iyswim. It goes very well with your other children's names too (which are lovely btw)

jellybeans · 18/10/2011 14:53

Love it.

SilveryMoon · 18/10/2011 01:01

I wanted to call ds2 Paterick, but dp didn't like it.

bigbluebump · 17/10/2011 20:58

I much prefer Gregor, Douglas and Fergus to Luke.

birdofthenorth · 17/10/2011 20:32

Lovely name

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/10/2011 20:10

I like Gregor too - but prefer Luke.

Fresh01 · 17/10/2011 20:00

Thanks for the comments. The other 3 are called Rachel, Hannah and Sam (Samuel officially), so generally traditional names. Sam is a toddler and generally fits the cute but mischievous monkey but I wasn't sure if that was boys after having 2 girls : )

Trying to come up with a traditional name but not one that may be duplicated in a class. Sam is going to be in the same class as another Sam and both have the same first surname initial. Sure teachers have had to deal with that one before but seems odd to me to be known all the time by your full name.

Others on my list but not agreed with DH are Patrick, Gregor, Douglas and Fergus.

All the other kids have family names for first and middle names but we have used most of the ones we like from that selection so it is proving hard : )

Oh dear, another really cute (world's most irrestible smile, at 15mo!) but definitely mischevious monkey Luke here! Am seeing a pattern

saintlyjimjams · 17/10/2011 19:33

In fact having been overruled for ds3 it was on the list for my dog as well but dh didn't agree to that either Grin

saintlyjimjams · 17/10/2011 19:33

I like it, it was on my list for ds3 but dh didn't want it.

Love the name...

CaptainMartinCrieff · 17/10/2011 19:17

Love it... I know a Luke who's been affectionally nicknamed Lukey... He is a toddler and his name really suits him.

SilveryMoon · 17/10/2011 19:16

My ds2 is called Luke.
inmysparetime Your description is spot on for my Luke!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/10/2011 19:15

Love it. I have taught two naughty ones but have known several lovely ones!

feedthegoat · 17/10/2011 19:05

Oh and I really like his name too!

feedthegoat · 17/10/2011 19:05

I know an utterly beautiful 13 week old Luke.

ChippingInToThePumpkinLantern · 17/10/2011 19:05

I like it ... and you don't hear that very often on this board!!!

oooggs · 17/10/2011 19:01

We named our ds3 (dc no.4) Luke

What are your other dcs called?

lilolilmanchester · 17/10/2011 19:01

I love it. Was on my list but didn't quite make it to the top (DH preferred another which I was happy with).

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 17/10/2011 19:00

I love it Smile

I'd echo what another poster said though - in some areas the accent makes it sound like Look

inmysparetime · 17/10/2011 18:58

IMO Lukes are naughty! I have taught a few and they are invariably really cute but very mischievous.

Montsti · 17/10/2011 18:51

Don't mind it, but every other boy where I live (a city in South Africa) is Luc, Luca, Luke or Lucas. Does make me think of puke too or mucus (Lucas!). Depends on what your other 3 are called too...
