I love Orla! Gorgeous and under-used.

When I first met the only Flora I know I did think margerine, sorry. I don't now I know her, of course

Margarine is also my mother's main concern with this name. But she also taught a horrible Orla..

Deliberated over both for dd, but chose Orla. Love it.

Grin No, it makes me think of the spread too - I think it would be unkind to name a child after a well-known spread. The teasing potential is great. Too great, IYKWIM.

Slinking: Lots of names mke people think of different things, this is life, not being unkind. I didn't say it reminded me of anything that socially unacceptable. It's butter!

Flora = spread. Not kind.

I love Orla, but it's so much nicer said in an Irish accent so that it's not rendered Aw-la...

Flpra reminds me of a vegetable fat spread & thrush (ie keeping the flora balanced)
