I wanted to call a daughter Chianti when I was about 14, I don't believe I was a chavvy child, or a wino for that matter! Thankfully I grew up.

When I was 8 in 1978 I just knew that my first-born daughter would be called Jacqueline, because it was a name that smacked of maturity and sophistication, and you could pretend that Jackie magazine was named after you.

Thank god I grew out of that delusion pretty sharpish. My DDs are pretty grateful too, I think.

Cyan Or Skye for a girl, Christian or Nicholas for a boy.
I now have 3 dc but didn't use any of my old favourite names.

Ages about 15, me and my two best mates had an argument over which of us would get to name our daughter Roxanne. I'm the only one of us who had a kid, and he's a boy, so no, it wasn't used! Just as well because my surname rhymes with it!

I was convinced it the height of feminine sophistication.

I didn't use it.

As a small child I wanted a Lucy or Isobel, as an older child I wanted a daughter called Amber (would've settled for a dog though), and as a teen I wanted a Skye or Oscar.

Don't really like any of them now. Lucy and Isobel are quite nice but were never serious contenders for any of the DCs.

At the age of ten I was dead set on calling any future DC Lloyd and Sapphire

I like to think that I have slightly more sophisticated taste now :o

I wanted Joseph from the age of about 14 after seeing Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat with Donny Osmond.

Im From New Zealand and am of Maori decent hence the 'foreign' sounding names!

Nooka -- a friend and I had a whole notebook each with a set of future twins on each page (26 in all going through the alphabet) complete with matching outfits and It was our hobby for about 6 weeks one summer.

I always loved Keziah and Annabel for girls, and Cillian and Rossa for boys (70s teen)
When I was much younger and starting Irish in school I thought Bricfeasta and Aoine (tr. 'breakfast' and 'friday') were the most gorgeous sounding names ever.

Oooh and for awhile I loved Madison and Kennedy. Urgh! Especially together, wtf was I thinking? I would have been about thirteen, so 1995.

And when I was going through my retro phase I wanted to have a boy named Lennon.

Ruby Edith and Kieran Matthew.

Only Edith made it through the years. I still love Ruby (it's my Grandma's name, as is Edith) but it's way too popular at the mo for my taste.

My XP wanted to call our first daughter Callibra after the car. This was c1997. Luckily we split before we had kids.

Never put year. I'd say the names are from about 1998, which would make me 15.

I always liked:

Isabel (it was more unusual as a teenager)
Eva (Evita was my favourite musical)
Elizabeth (then I worked with a Lizzie I did not like, which ruined the name)

Nathaniel (still think its a gorgeous name, but DH has a close friend with this name)
Matthew (would still use it for a second son)

Bowie - boy or girl.

I can only remember my girls name - Atlanta I was 13/14 at the time (1993).
And it was because Tony from East17 called his daughter that, ha ha. I was put off about a year later when I came across a woman shouting it out at baggage reclaim when I was on holiday; I can still hear her now ATTA-LAN-TAAAAAAAAAHHH come 'ere!

I wanted a Mark, named after my first kiss and Elliot after the boy on ET.

when I was a teenager a boy was always going to be Andrew, I still love the name but don't think I would use it now as it has been tarnished by people who have that name.

When I was 18 a girl was going to be Lysette, which I still quite like but would not use as it reminds me too much of an ex who i now can't stand. (he also wanted to name boys Louis and lestatt after Interview with a vampire, but that's a whole different story!)

At the age of 6 (1985) I wanted to use Francesca for a girl. I have 2 DSs so never used it. My DS1 (almost 6) is going through the same thing now and swears his son will be called Noah.
