When you were a child/teen what baby name were you going to 'definitely' use for future DC's?

Me and my now exh, married 1990, liked Stephanie and Elliot. Goodness knows why we discussed names because neither of us wanted children and although divorced for many years neither of us changed our minds.

Aged 10: Dimanche for a girl after a sassy character in a book I loved. Boys didn't exist.
Aged 14: Faith after a Buffy character, Nick Jr for a boy because I was going to marry Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys
Aged 16: Hunter for a boy, Oriana for a girl
Aged 18: Twin girls Lillith and Jezabel (goth phase)
Aged 22: Noa for a girl, Vincent for a boy (gaming fan-girl phase)

Had my DD aged 25 and named her something totally normal and sane.

Although I still love Noa.

1990s: Kaia!

Lysander and Tybalt for boys. GCSE English had a big effect on me obviously

I liked Eloise and Sophia for girls. Wouldn't use any of them now.

Leonas same for us! I'm half Spanish and my DP is very Mediterranean looking but with his Scottish surname it would have sounded ridiculous! I love a lot of Spanish names, but with his or my (also very Scottish) name it just wouldn't work

This will out me if my classmates are on here but I remember in approx 1994 we had a really boring french teacher and instead of doing work the girls at our table would make lists in the back of our jotters of names we would call our children. We were about 14 at the time.

Mine included Dee-Tails, Paco and Toyota Turcel for a boy

Ayeokthen - you just reminded me that I loved Marisol too! Still love the sound of it but wouldn't use it (very common and dull surname!)

I always wanted to Avery for a boy and I still secretly love it but DP (and my mother!) have both shot that idea down in flames! We have 2 girls anyway...

My daughter is currently 10 and has decided her future children will be Ellie, Tiffany, and then two boys called Isaac and Peter.

Haven't used any of them, but I still love them. One of ours DS has an Irish name.

In 1990 when I was 12 I was borderline obsessed with the name Jessica. Didn't use or even contemplate for either dd.

Around 1992, I wanted a boy called Tristan and girls called Ashleigh and Jade.

Didn't use any of them, I think dh would have been very !

Oh, Joshua would have been 2000-ish and Jacqui possibly around 1995.

As a teenager I was definitely going to call a future son Joshua. I don't think I'm likely to use it now though, just don't love it like I used to. Mind you, we haven't had a boy yet so you never know.

I can't remember any girls names, though as a child I did love Jacqui/Jacqueline, but I think it was more that I wished my parents had called me that!

In the early 1990s when I would have been 11,12,13 ish it was Chloe or Jordan for a girl. I wasn't having any boys!

Sorry if I ruffled feathers- I had a perfectly fine childhood, but getting married and naming children just wasn't a priority in my peer group. At all. ( 70s, feminist influenced girls grammar school)

Names fascinate me now though, for lots of reasons. I often find with cats they have two names - the one you give them and the (far more suitable) one they tell you later.

I absolutely love my own name, 'traditional' as it is - and I often wonder how it must be to be given a name you dislike, for whatever reason ( too boring, not unique enough, too out there, etc.)

I was fond of "Cantabria" (??) for a girl, and my own creation "Oquit" for a boy, pronounced Ock-witt.

Stacey and Zoey.... I never dreamed of having boys ("why would I want to do that" I would retort when my mother would ask me what about naming any sons...LOL). This was late 90s. I then added Chloe into the mix, solely because it rhymed with Zoey...Chloe is my daughter's middle name now after my best friend.

I then went through a 'colour names' obsession around the age of 14/15 in 2005 loving Ruby, Lilac, Lavender, 'Red' as a nn for Meredith, Amber, Coral, Jade, Scarlet, etc. Ironically, I always hated Violet which is now one of my DDs names.

Early teens I wanted Chloe and Matthew. Then early adulthood Rex and Phoebe (which dh and I used in the cats as I thought if I "saved" them we would be tempting fate).

We have a dd and a DS and used totally different names.

80s I was going to have triplets called Belinda, Fenella and Rosemary.
90s I liked Bethany and Pippa.
No thought I might have a boy. I have (so far?) one ds!

Zoe I bloody love that name but DH vetoed.

In the late 90s when I was about 9 I wanted Chelsea (much to my Arsenal-loving DF's dismay!)

In the mid 00s when I was about 14 there was a name I liked which I won't mention because I did use it (it's not a particularly common name!)

I liked briony after the girl in if wishes were horses. I am pg with #1 but if its a girl she wont be briony.

Sounds like you had a 'fun' childhood words if your only focus was your grades. Having fun & day dreaming don't do anyone any harm and my career certainly hasn't been tainted because of it.
