Hi,

We decided not to tell anyone names we were considering but now are stuck between two for if its a boy and 4 if it's a girl. Would just like some other people's opinions and me and DH cannot reach a decision (EDD 3/11).
Girl: Elizabeth (Lizzie), Jennifer, Zoe or Isla
Boy: Thomas (bit worried it's v common but is DH's fave) or Adam
Would love to hear what people think as I've definately been overthinking it!!

Elizabeth and Adam

NinkyNonker · 12/10/2011 11:27

Definitely Adam for a boy, you don't see many of them and it is a lovely name.

Elizabeth is more classic and allows for more NNs, but I like Isla too.

I like all your names and if you are having problems why dont you just not decide now and wait till you meet the little one and decide then.

Elizabeth and adam. If I had an Elizabeth her nn would be betsy but I know that's considered a little cutesy.

Elizabeth and Thomas both lovely classic names.

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 11/10/2011 12:22

Jennifer. Love it but can't use it myself.

And Adam, great name.

I like Elizabeth, personally I'd shorten it to Beth, but she'll almost certainly end up deciding herself dependent on peer group.
Here she would be the only Elizabeth/Lizzy, but we have Issy, Izzie, Beth(an), Beth(any) and a couple of Libbys (who's full names I don't know)
No Jennifer or Zoe

Thomas and Adam, Both great strong boys names. Prefer Thomas TBH myself.I suspect neither will be as terribly common as you think depending on where you live.

Lizzie -Elizabeth( don't shorten to Beth- they are very common) and Jennifer (jenny/jen) all good too. Zoe and Isla - bit meh to me but not bad names, I understand in some regions Isla is getting well used though.

KatAndKit · 11/10/2011 10:59

I would go with either Elizabeth or Jennifer.
For a boy, both your names are fine, but if it was me, I would probably pick Adam as it is not used as much these days.

Jennifer Elizabeth or Thomas Adam :)

Elizabeth - nice classic name
Jennifer - very pretty and underused
Zoe - not so keen, prefer Zara
Isla - don't like, a bit faddy ATM

Thomas - like, classic
Adam - OK, again a classic

I prefer Thomas for a boy even though it's very popular. For a girl I like Elizabeth ( although I prefer the nn Libby but that's just me. ) and Zoe.
