what do you think to this name? it has really grown on me, i think it is classic and understated and quite elegant. also there don't seem to be too many baby Anna's about.
what do other people think? somebody mentioned they found it quite boring? does anyone think it is too popular now (i thought my other daughters name, Beatrice, was un-popular but there are three in her nursery class all born within 4 days of each other), and do you think it goes with Beatrice? thanks in advance.

My 2 year old DD is Anna Elizabeth bluebell. Great choice and not too many of them about (fingers crossed..) Wink

Papyrus · 30/11/2011 00:21

Lovely name Grin!

My 3 year old DD2 is Anna Clemency Violet, known as Annie.

teobaldo · 29/11/2011 22:13

well you might have decided by now... but I have a 9 months old Anna and her middle name is Vittoria. I love the name and we gets lots of compliments, also because she is very cute (people say she is very cute) but my son chose it, initially we wanted something different, even if present in my family. I think it is having a come back now, though as there are more than I did expect

kellestar · 09/10/2011 16:43

I love Anna, wanted to name DD that but DH wasn't as keen, we both agreed on Beatrice Annabelle in the end. My friends little one is Annabelle and it's lovely and cute.

WhaohThere · 09/10/2011 16:29

Anna Marie, of course!

susiey · 08/10/2011 21:02

I love it I have an Annalise Claire who is often Anna!
easy to spell at school as well!

fannybanjo · 08/10/2011 21:02

Love it. My favourite name but it just didn't go with our surname.

PommePoire · 08/10/2011 20:59

famous Annas not Anna's

PommePoire · 08/10/2011 20:58

Anna is a lovely name with very positive associations, I think. If you look at famous Anna's: Anna Pavlova, Anna Ford, Dame Anna Neagle. The only remotely dodgy one I can think of is Anna Nicole Smith.

Anna Ruth
Anna Rose
Anna Lucy
Anna Lisa
Anna Louise
Anna Jane
Anna Juliet
Anna Josephine
Anna Madeleine
Anna Maria
Anna Clare

RollOnTheMum · 08/10/2011 20:45

Love the name Anna - my best friend is Anna. However, she was nicknamed Anal at school! lol :)

wigglesmonsterock · 08/10/2011 20:43

iskra No waaaaay Grin, am now slightly panicking incase you're dd1s old primary school teacher Grin

manicinsomniac · 08/10/2011 20:22

I like it. Don't love it but it's a pretty, timeless name.

Think I only know one (aged 8) and I think she's an Anna Kyra.

I feel like I should know more but fairly sure I don't. It's high up on the lists though (number 63 for 2010 with 956 babies named it)

iskra · 08/10/2011 20:14

Wiggles, I'm Anna Clare!

nonsenses · 07/10/2011 23:49

It is slightly dull but i do like it very much.

babycham42 · 07/10/2011 21:41

Anna is lovely but I like Annie even more.

wigglesmonsterock · 07/10/2011 21:39

mumofbumblebea I went for a family name - Clare. We never ever use middle names just as a nod to grannys etc Grin. Our surname is also one syllable, so its all very short. In fact thinking about it all my dds have very short names.

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 07/10/2011 21:35

Lovely, quite possibly the only perfect name in the world. I have one in the family or I would have used it. She's the only one of her age (9) that I know around us so not overly popular, which is good.

mumofbumblebea · 07/10/2011 21:30

glad to see other people like the name. those of you with little Anna's what did you go for as a middle name if you don't mind me asking? i think i need a long middle name as the surname is quite short.

Anne is more classic and elegant than Anna IMHO.

JugsMcGee · 07/10/2011 14:55

I love it, it was on my list.

comedaygoday · 07/10/2011 14:53

It's a lovely name. Classic and elegant.

PandaNot · 07/10/2011 13:13

I have an almost 4 year old Anna. Not too many of them around here and everyone comments on her pretty name.

QueenVictoria42 · 07/10/2011 13:10

I find it is a perfectly inoffensive name. I don't dislike it, but I don't love it. I'm neutral towards it. It's better than Ann!

Lovethesea · 07/10/2011 13:04

I have a nearly 3 year old Anna. We don't know any others yet. It really grew on me once we got it on the shortlist. I'm not flowery and didn't want a girly name so Anna was perfect; strong and suited to any personality. Great long history with it, lovely meaning. I don't find it plain or boring, just powerfully simple and elegant.

WhaohThere · 07/10/2011 11:49

It has been one of my favourite names since I was about 8 and had an Icelandic friend called Anna. Twas a very unusual name to hear in the UK at that time. Another bonus is that it can't be shortened - no horrible nicknames!
