We were set on Hamish. I am having doubts, will he become Ham/Hammy/Egg?

We like Wolf. Not sure it will suit a red head as the last 2 have been.

I like a bit crazy.

Earshot dish the name Grin

earshot · 02/10/2011 19:26

I'm not sure you should trust my judgement Grin as I get serious mad woman looks after I tell anyone DD's name after which they say 'oh hasn't DS got a lovely name'. (DS got the solid name everyone loves but I'm secretly still not that into it and DD got the crazy name that everyone else hates but DH, DS and I absolutely love)

I was going to suggest fox but wasn't sure if that really was too crazy. Lovely for a red head. Come live round my way, no-one will bat an eyelid at wolf Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/10/2011 19:26

Remus Octavius sounds a bit Spartacus though, non?

The more I think about Remus, the more I like it though.

largeginandtonic · 02/10/2011 19:23

No to Victor. I am the female version of that name.

I am really liking Remus you know. Remy is v cool.

Remus Octavius.

Liking Abraham/Bram. Merlin makes even Wolf look almost sensible!

Rowan/Rohan?

Wilfred okay - quite like Wilf but really don't like Red, which sounds too try-hard-alternative imho.

Love the list - especially Beau's nn! :)

Victor?

ShowOfHands · 02/10/2011 19:19

Have you tried Nymbler.

largeginandtonic · 02/10/2011 19:14

It is still IN her name. Just second name now.

If it is a girl then she is Dorothy. No exceptions.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 02/10/2011 19:12

How about India for a girl?

largeginandtonic · 02/10/2011 19:11

We are in a loop. You watch it will pop out a girl now after all this.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 02/10/2011 19:10

Yup to Bram Stoker.

Ginny's brood is...

Jacob (Jake)
Samuel (Sam)
Seraphim (Phin)
Jonah
Hugo (Hugs)
Beau (Get down from there fgs and put down the sword)
Bluebell

I distinctly remember discussing Wilfred/Wilf/Red when you were about 13 weeks.

We're in some kind of naming loop.

nooka · 02/10/2011 19:06

oh I like Wilfred. I like Abraham too, but here that would almost certainly become Abe. Was Bram Stoker an Abraham?

largeginandtonic · 02/10/2011 19:06

Earshot i am heartened by the fact you like Wolf.

I used to like Fox. However there was an awful incident with the the dog and a fox and it has put me off. Shame really.

nooka · 02/10/2011 19:04

I agree with everyone else, Wolf is really quite awful, even if you do like a bit crazy. Hamish is cool with the celtic heritage, and probably more likely to end up with a nn that has nothing to do with his name. Remus is quite interesting, not m cup of tea, but I don't think it is particularly HPish (different if you decided to call your ds Lupin, but then I think that would be more of a girl's name, as it is a flower).

largeginandtonic · 02/10/2011 19:04

I love Merlin. Wilfred is back on. Red for short.

I am not awkward i am careful.

List em Showy.

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 02/10/2011 19:01

I knew that Grin

Honestly, if i didn't have dh to contend with he would be named by now.

OP posts:
earshot · 02/10/2011 18:59

I like hamish but my nn is ham (I am not a hamish or a boy Grin) so I'm biased!

I also love wolf and can see why you like it but it's one of those names someone might have to live up to.

ShowOfHands · 02/10/2011 18:59

Merlin
Taliesin
Abraham (Bram)
Aneurin (Nye)

I suspect I've suggested all of these before.

Where are we on Red these days?

Northernlurker · 02/10/2011 18:57

'Ginny is awkward beyond belief ' - yes I was gettig that sense Grin

Makinglists · 02/10/2011 18:57

oops sorry if I've confirmed the Mish nn argument!!!. We liked Hamish because it seemed to suit a male of all ages (I tried imagining a baby, a young man and an old gent with the name) and we have a little bit of Scottish heritage in DH side of the family. Seamus and James also mean the same as Hamish or should I say Hamish is a varient of James (as is Seamus).

ShowOfHands · 02/10/2011 18:56

I feel duty bound to point out that dd2 isn't even referred to by her birth name.

Ginny is awkward beyond belief when it comes to naming her twenty seven children.

ShowOfHands · 02/10/2011 18:55

Want me to list the brood?

Misha is a fab name. As is Sacha.

Emrys?

DamselWithADulcimer · 02/10/2011 18:53

Oh, go for Hamish. It's a fab name. We had a brilliant dog called Hamish, and he was known as Mishmash. Don't tell your DH that one.

largeginandtonic · 02/10/2011 18:52

Bet dh would like Remus. He loves all the Gladaitor and Greek mythology names.

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 02/10/2011 18:51

Bryn is WELSH! Grin
