Constantine - opinions?

Expecting DS2 and this is top of our name list - what are your thoughts?

We already have a DS called Roman Alexander and plan to use the middle name Patrick as it is a family name.

So what do you think - love it or loath it?

In my neck of the woods its a place name and used for females.

mythical · 30/09/2011 21:03

Sorry, where i come from (in europe) it's a girl's name.

winkle2 · 29/09/2011 22:37

I thought it was a girls name.

othersideofchannel · 29/09/2011 22:07

Konstantin is the German version. Depends where he'll grow up. In English speaking countries, I think Constantine is more appropriate.

barrysnotter · 29/09/2011 19:10

Not to my taste.

expectingnumber2 · 29/09/2011 18:30

Do you think Konstantin seems more masculine?

I like it.

WhaohThere, you're confusing it with Constance - that's the girls' version.

annasophia · 29/09/2011 10:01

I love it. I know a couple of German Konstantins - it is fairly popular in Germany.

pootros · 29/09/2011 09:58

gorgeous

WhaohThere · 29/09/2011 09:58

I thought it was a girl's name.

Why would you do that to a little boy?

evamummy · 29/09/2011 09:52

I love Constantine - strong, classic underused name. Yes, it does go well with Roman.

birdofthenorth, what on earth is feminine about Constantine? It has quite the opposite association for me. And imo it's much better to go for a posh name than a chave one - although I personally hate labelling names in this way!

birdofthenorth · 28/09/2011 22:29

Sorry, to my ears it's insanely posh & pretty feminine -you did ask, so best to be honest! if you love it, use it, but personally I'd worry he wouldn't thank you for it

Chynah · 28/09/2011 20:37

Think we have the same name taste!
If I was to have another boy (I'm not) he was going to be Constantine with Kit for nn. Middle name Tudor.

I also have a Roman and an Alessandra.

Lonnie · 28/09/2011 19:03

Beautiful

Youremindmeofthebabe · 28/09/2011 17:15

I'm not sure. It reminds me too much of Constance. It seems difficult for a boy to pull off, IMO. I do like Cassius though.

AmberLeaf · 28/09/2011 16:58

John schmon...it still brings up scary memories!

It is a nice name, bit long for a first name IMO but I just see demons when I think of it!

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 28/09/2011 16:54

I like it Smile

BTW, those referencing the film/comic book character - his name was actually John, Constantine was his surname.

Kayzr · 28/09/2011 16:49

I love it!!! Goes so well with Roman too

kelly2000 · 28/09/2011 16:48

Sorry, but I hate it. Sounds like it is trying to hard to be unusual.

reallacecurtains · 28/09/2011 10:56

Love! Refreshing choice with many options for nicknames - Con, Stan,Tin Tin (sweet Smile or Tino Good luck!

PercyFilth · 27/09/2011 22:26

Tino is another possible short form.

hulabula · 27/09/2011 21:21

I like it and it goes very well with Roman.

FairyArmadillo · 27/09/2011 21:11
