I am having our third baby (not right this moment though) and am thinking of the following names. If you have any thoughts on the matter, please let me know what you like.

Boys
Christian (nn Kit)
Hector (nn Tor)
Dashiell (nn Dash)
Angus

Edward or Benjamin for middle name.

Girls
Claudia
Valentina (poss nn Nina)

No middle names yet.

Already have a Penelope (Pen, Penny, Penelope) and a Constance (Connie) who are 2 and 1 respectively.

Am not easily offended.

Thanks!

cordelia or angus

DigOfTheStump · 26/09/2011 20:39

And if you like Tor, but have gone off Hector, Torryn is nice, (BBC reporter Torryn Douglas). Might be Torrin, not sure.

Oh, and my final girl's offering (honest!) Erica.

DigOfTheStump · 26/09/2011 20:30

I like Juliet or Vivienne (clearly) but would say Philippa is lovely too with your girl's names, and I never think of it as a boys' name first.

Kit or Angus do it for me as boys' names.

sonniebonnie · 26/09/2011 12:04

I like Christian (Chris) and Angus. Really dislike Hector (bully!), but Tor on its own is nice.

I love Valentina - beautiful and feminine. Works well in most languages (German, Spanish, French etc). Underused classic - great choice!

Don't like Claudia (Claudus = disabled in Latin) or Juliet (too harsh imo).

Boobz · 26/09/2011 11:25

Not Tina!

Never seen the Incredibles, but someone did say that last year when I had my #2 name thread going - was it you Slarty?

Off to google Hector's House.

No more eee names at the end I think - hence Valentina and Claudia.

slartybartfast · 26/09/2011 10:26

dash would remind me of the incredibles.

hector, hector's house

angus ok

christian - nah

claudia - yes

but your girls nn all end in ee. would you be doing claudee? or starting afresh?

slartybartfast · 26/09/2011 10:24

tina for short Wink

Boobz · 26/09/2011 10:20

I know in years to come it will be forgotten, but probably at least 5 years, and that's a bit long for me. Not the same as William as it's not such an unusual name as Davina...

Defo no to Henrietta.

Valentina's not doing as well as I'd hoped... I thought it went really well with Penelope and Constance!

scarlettlips · 26/09/2011 09:33

Boobz Is it because of THIS IS DAVINA etc etc? I get what you're say, but in IMO no I don't think so. In several years time it will be long forgotten.

What do you think when you hear the name William? I don't think of Prince William..I hear a lovely name?

Juliet is lovely and very unused, not as keen of Vivienne (girl at school, urghh) Henrietta is charming.

Tillyscoutsmum · 26/09/2011 09:24

Angus and Claudia for me. Both really lovely Smile

Boobz · 26/09/2011 09:22

Florence too popular right now... Henrietta too much like Phillipa or willamena... Making a girls namy out of a boy's... But same could be said for Claudia I suppose...

Excuse typos, am on iPad.

wellwisher · 26/09/2011 09:19

I think Juliet is a better fit with Penelope and Constance. You could also try out Florence, Henrietta (nn Hettie)...

GooseyLoosey · 26/09/2011 08:57

Kit and Claudia for me.

Boobz · 26/09/2011 08:51

What do people think of Juliet then, to go with my current 2 daughters...? Is Kit winning for the boys then?

OP posts:
Boobz · 26/09/2011 08:49

I like Vivienne, Vivi for short, but would worry it would go to jus Viv and I knew an old lady Viv growing up and it doesn't really work for me now.

OP posts:
Boobz · 26/09/2011 08:46

Scarlet lips... Like Davina but surely too associated with one person now?

Boobz · 26/09/2011 08:44

Give me your top 3 of each then Foryourdreamsarechina....

ForYourDreamsAreChina · 26/09/2011 06:32

I love your daughters' names, but think you need to go back to the drawing board with the list, because none of them are a patch on Penelope and Constance!

Grin
wellwisher · 25/09/2011 22:23

I think of Tor as a girl's nickname - short for Victoria...

mopsyflopsy · 25/09/2011 21:10

I like Angus and Dashiell. Hector means to bully/torment and a hector is a bully, so not a great association imo. I do like Tor on its own and know a lovley one.

Love Valentina - so pretty and feminine. The meaning of Claudia (lame, disabled) would put me off, sorry.

DigOfTheStump · 25/09/2011 20:42

Vivienne is another contender, I feel.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/09/2011 20:41

Love Christian/Kit
Love Hector but hate Tor
Love Edward and Benjamin
Like Claudia

Don't like Angus or Dashiell/Dash or Valentina. Love Constance and like Penelope!

scarlettlips · 25/09/2011 20:24

I also think your DD's name's are lovely. Might just come to you for naming future DC's Grin
In order:
Kit - I want one...it's on our list! Not keen on Christian through.
Hector - Like a lot, but I don't think you need a nn.
Angus - Love
Dashiell (nn Dash) Not my cup of tea, but no horrid.

Edward or Benjamin for middle name - Great names.

Claudia - Again on our list...LOVE.
Valentina (poss nn Nina) Really like this, but not keen on Nina.

May i chuck Angelica, Davina and Marina into the ring?

LetThereBeRock · 25/09/2011 20:07

I don't like Hector. Christian is nice, and Kit is great, but Angus is my favourite. Dashiell is very nice too.

Claudia is beautiful. I love your dd's names. You have excellent taste.

DigOfTheStump · 25/09/2011 19:57

LOL,I just think it goes very well with your other two.
