DS2 is 3 days old and we just can't decide between Rex or Freddy. We have been trying each out for size but can't come to a decision. Both names have family connections, Rex was my Grandfather and Freddy was DH's so naturally I'm drawn to Rex and DH to Freddy but both of us are okay with the other.

I feel Freddy goes better with our surname (Cole) as it is 2 syllables but I like the fact that Rex is more unusual. I appreciate it's becoming more popular but I don't think it will be a Jack or Oliver. DS1 is Xander and I just feel like it would look like we put more effort into his name than DS2's if we went with Freddy.
God it's sounds ridiculous now I've typed it out but I just want to give the poor child a name!
Opinions please Smile

An update...still on Zachary, I like it but don't love it. DH not going for Dexter, thinks it has potential to turn chavvy (sorry I know some people hate that) in time. I would like to try Judeand dare I say it I think I might be coming back full circle to Rex!

I like Xander and Dexter, as well as Xander and Quentin. I think a two syllable name goes best with Xander.

We also have a one syllable surname and chose a 2 syllable first name - I think it sounds better together.

Kayzr · 26/09/2011 06:51

I'd go with Freddie but that's because I have one. Please not Frederick, it's horrible.

But Rex is really cool and I love Luca.

airborne · 26/09/2011 06:46

If you are still considering....Rex Frederick Cole. Rex and Cole are fine together. Rex is an uber-cool name. Apparently kids give the nod of approval
to names with x or z in them - so I have been told by the youth of today! So you will have 2 cool sons. Love Zack too but the surname does make it run together.

I would just say take your time and don't panic. I've seen threads on here with people who are days away from the 6 week deadline to register the birth and still haven't decided, so I know people will be pressuring you, but 3 days is not long compared to a lifetime in the name. Keep trying out the options. Tell anyone who asks that you're still thinking about it and he is officially 'Darling Boy' (or other endearment) in the meantime.

mopsyflopsy · 25/09/2011 21:07

How about Quinn? Also like Dexter very much.

pranma · 25/09/2011 21:05

I love Freddy-to me Rex is a dog's name I'm afraid although I did like Rex Harrison in my youth.

Still no official name...Asa just didn't work and DH not keen on Lucaso todays name has been Zachary which I like but am not sure about the 'C' sound of Zac with our surname Cole it kind of runs together into Zacol if you don't pronounce it properly.

Purplebuns · 24/09/2011 15:39

I love Rex, although I see you have moved on? Freddy is a bit ten a penny around these parts. Rex Frederic is great.

figgygal · 24/09/2011 10:05

I'm all for Freddie!!

That's the name I want but as our surname is crew everyone will think Freddie Krueger so just cant do it.
