thanks everyone! i was actually thinking of Noa but wrote Noah since that's more commonly known and when you meet people, you usually don't meet them written down...so you'd tend to assume Noah when hearing Noa. In any case, I think we've decided against. Thanks for your help :)

I would think prentious parent

LaLaLaLayla · 10/09/2011 11:30

I would think (rightly or wrongly) that their parents had been secretly hoping for a boy...

Idreamofsunshine · 10/09/2011 10:46

I'd wonder why the parents had given their daughter a boys name

ensure · 10/09/2011 09:44

Prefer Noa or Noor.

mayanna123 · 09/09/2011 21:22

I would think 'how pretty' and probably think it was spelt Noa, but I can imagine a female Noah.

kickingking · 09/09/2011 20:39

I would think "How unusual" then I would think "It's rather nice!"

For some reason, I think it should be Noa for a girl though?

Iggly · 09/09/2011 20:33

What about Noe? (pronounced No-eh)

unsuspectingclodpate · 09/09/2011 20:29

Noa is really nice.

Pancakeflipper · 09/09/2011 20:21

Noa is such a gorgeous name for a girl. I have only come across it with those with a Jewish link.

I fall into the category of thinking you really wanted a boy if you call her Noah.

BellsaRinging · 09/09/2011 20:17

Noa's quite a common Israeli name for a girl, as already pointed out. I've always liked it. There's an Israeli singer named Noa, and Rabin's grandaughter (if you remember her from his funeral; she gave a lovely eulogy) is also called Noa.

Collision · 09/09/2011 20:13

I would think 'thank goodness that is not my name.....'

There are so many beautiful girl names out there. I would put in in as a middle name if I had to but am not keen.

Deffo Noa though and not Noah.

flack · 09/09/2011 20:12

I would think it was weird. Even if spelled Noa. There are lots of nice names, why choose that?

MrsHuxtable · 09/09/2011 20:10

I love Noah for a girl! And I wouldn't think the parents were weird. Maybe the cool arty and alternative type.

pilates · 09/09/2011 18:12

I would feel sorry for her that she had a boys name.

Bue · 09/09/2011 16:39

It really needs to be Noa for a girl. Noah would be, quite frankly, ridiculous. I would think the parents were idiots.

PedigreeChump · 09/09/2011 16:29

Very much dislike it. Gender-neutral names are a pet hate of mine though!

going · 09/09/2011 13:38

It's Noa for a girl.

TheOriginalFAB · 09/09/2011 13:37

I would think poor child.

It is a lovely name for a boy.

Voidka · 09/09/2011 13:35

Nora?
Mts Noah doesnt have a name in The Bible.

mollschambers · 09/09/2011 13:30

I would expect her to hate being continually asked through primary school why she has a boys name.

Elderberries · 09/09/2011 13:23

I think it's a bit horrid. So many lovely girls names and you give her a boy's name. Unfair.

Mia or Maya?

tummytickler · 09/09/2011 12:52

I would assume it was spelt Noa.
Traditionally the male Noah has a throaty Noach sort of ending. (Am I explaining myself clearly?) and the female has the Noah pronunciation that the little boys now have.

Wafflenose · 09/09/2011 11:33

Don't like Noah for a girl. Noa would be better. Have you thought about Nia? Or Norah?

FannyBrawne · 09/09/2011 11:29

MayMummy11 - what a lovely gift of a name for your DD!

I love unusual/surprising names.
