Sorry, but I still really like Persimmon.

I'm pronouncing it PER-sim-on. Like the fruit, not the house building company.

I love the nickname Percy for a little girl.

It's pretty. It fits with my other daughter's name.

Is it really so terrible?

How about Persia? If you have another DD called India it will go very well. Unless you want to be pedantic and call her Iran :)

MerylStrop · 07/09/2011 19:53

Be brave and radical and reclaim Sharon

Pernille is also nice

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 07/09/2011 19:18

GrimmaTheNome · 07/09/2011 15:53

How about Persis?
ooh yes - the only place I've come across it is in one of the Anne of Green Gables series, thought how lovely, unusual but sounds like a proper name (which it is)

Hullygully · 07/09/2011 15:53

Pepperonia?
Plumdufferina?
Puddingista?
Popsiclara?

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 07/09/2011 15:51

How about Persis?

Psammead · 07/09/2011 15:25

Juniper is nice.

I like Starling as a middle name! I like Dove, Lark, Wren and Robin too. Just don't go for Thrush. Or Tit.

Psammead · 07/09/2011 15:23

All credit OP for taking a bashing with good humour Grin

I have also never heard of the builders.

Persimmon is... not to my taste. I thought it was for a boys' name when I opened the thread.

I like your other options though!

MardyBra · 07/09/2011 15:05

I'm confused. In the OP you say as in the fruit, not the housebuilding company.

And then later you say you've never heard of the house building company.

Confused

mathanxiety · 07/09/2011 14:25

How about the gorgeous Swedish name Pernilla?

Badtasteflump · 07/09/2011 11:46

Humphrey - really?

In my house that's our name for a fart! Blush

PfftTheMagicDraco · 07/09/2011 11:42

I love Persephone.

H was having none of it though.

allhailtheaubergine · 07/09/2011 07:53

Actually, maybe I do need to step away. I keep seeing that Feminism thread called "Kyriarchy" in active conversations and wondering if they mean for a boy or a girl.

Humphrey is cool. You can be cool on the footie pitch called Humphrey.

Going to google Cocteau Twins.

OP posts:
flimflammery · 07/09/2011 07:11

You CANNOT call him Humphrey if he's a boy. What about when he's 10 and wants to be one of the cool boys on the soccer field? Called Humphrey Hmm

LaurieFairyCake · 07/09/2011 07:06

What the fuck is 'Pomolo' ?

I just snorted my tea up my nose giggling at that.

It's utterly bonkers.

Persimmon isn't as bad as that but for all you know the home building company could open a branch in your country and you'll look a twat

baguettecut · 07/09/2011 06:55

Your. Not you're.

baguettecut · 07/09/2011 06:54

I think, op, you should have a gander at the Cocteau Twins song titles. Lots of names right up you're alley.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 07/09/2011 06:22

What's your other DD's name, Aubergine? Is it another fruit?

It's not actually Aubergine, is it?

seeker · 07/09/2011 06:20

For those of youbwho think it's ok to call a girl Percy, donyou thin it's OK to call a boy Sophia?

MeconiumHappens · 06/09/2011 21:24

Oh noooo Aubers, don't do it. Poor little percy pecker.....

Will somebody please think of the children

allhailtheaubergine · 06/09/2011 20:44

I'll put that in the 'for' column Percy.
