Hunter.

DH loves it. I actually do like it too, but living in ruralish England think everyone will think we are bloody bonkers.

Excellent

Although to be honest, I went for the more innocent 'munter'

Cunter is growing on me too...

ragged · 05/09/2011 12:11

If you like it then go for it, OP.

ImpyCelyn · 05/09/2011 12:10

ROFL at Cunter, fab name.

Maiavan · 05/09/2011 12:09

I immediately think of Hunter Tylo who I think is absolutely beautiful. But she is a female :)

LaWeasel · 05/09/2011 12:05

The middle names are already chosen and are very ordinary.

I quite like Cunter actually. At least then you have got in first with the rude word, plus it's unique.

LaWeasel · 05/09/2011 12:04

I do like it, we're not American but like American names, I come from another culture where hunting is very normal/acceptable so that doesn't bother me at all.

It bothers me that I don't think it suits England so other parents will judge, and that DS will get teased if he has a spotty gangly geeky puberty. (Obviously totally possible) But DH doesn't seem to think about anything past 'I like this name' Hmm

DD has a very ordinary name as well.

People will say "like the wellies?" or "Like that bloke from gladiator who shagged Ulrike Johnnsen?" depending on their age. When you'll get the jokes and hassle from the name for the first few years, it's his name for the rest of his life.

Please, please give him a sensible middle name he can use for job interviews/when trying to chat up a girl.

ragged · 05/09/2011 12:00

Trying too hard.
I am American, btw, so wouldn't hold that against you Wink.
There are so many NICE names to choose, instead.
Totally different if you said it was a family name, then I'd think it was quite a cool choice.
Do you actually like hunting, is it something you want your child to be like, a predator?

Eglu · 05/09/2011 11:57

Love it

AitchTwoOh · 05/09/2011 11:56

cunter. when he is 13 and spotty and worried about everything in his life, that is the age that all his peers will take to calling him cunter.

qwepoi · 05/09/2011 11:56

Also - think ahead to job interviews.

BibiThree · 05/09/2011 11:55

Not my cup of tea to be honest, but not my baby.

qwepoi · 05/09/2011 11:54

I came across a 'Hunter' the other day. It did not sound good when the mother yelled "'unter! Come ere!'
Also potential nickname of 'Hun'

sjuperwolef · 05/09/2011 11:53

too try hard and american for my taste

MangoMonster · 05/09/2011 11:53

It's very popular in America. I like it.

chandellina · 05/09/2011 11:52

i think it's lovely.

chrisrobin · 05/09/2011 11:50

I don't like it, I can see it being used to tease him at school.

Stokey38 · 05/09/2011 11:48

I love it, there was a new little boy at DDs nursery this morning called Hunter and thought then how much I loved it.

ItsMeAndMyPuppyNow · 05/09/2011 11:39

I would assume he was a girl.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 05/09/2011 11:28

I'd think what limetrees thinks. It's a daft name.

limetrees · 05/09/2011 11:23

I would assume the parents were gladiators fans in the late eighties/early nineties. That, and a little bit strange if you want my honest opinion.

Winetimeisfinetime · 05/09/2011 11:19

I hate it too. Don't like the sound of it or the connotations.

suburbandream · 05/09/2011 11:13

I would assume he was American.
