What do you think? I can't find much about it on Google, don't know the meaning etc. But I like the way it sounds and the 'lo' sound could make for different nns (not just Ellie and specifically Lola, ahem).

As always, entertain me, be brutal! x

TBH Ragged, I had never heard it before today either....so I'm assuming its Ello-wyn like you say, but I am happy to be corrected by anyone who has actually heard the name being used :)

I thought it was a boy's name?

ragged · 27/08/2011 18:07

Ello-wyn? See, I don't know how to say it, so if you don't mind frequently correcting dullards like me...

Kirstle · 27/08/2011 18:04

Gosh Trillian- surely you're the first person in the World to make that connotation? - never heard it before yawn ;)

Well I think this is right.
Elowen is a cornish name, meaning elm tree. So maybe it is just a different spelling of it. I would have done more of an o sound (like el-o-wan)

I like it.

TrillianAstra · 27/08/2011 18:01

Well, I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is Lola, L-L-Lola, L-L-Lola

TrillianAstra · 27/08/2011 18:00

Sounds very Lord of the Rings, with a bit of Welsh thrown in.

Did you make it up?

Kirstle · 27/08/2011 18:00

I've just found it spelt Elowen and the meaning is Elm Tree and it's apparently a Cornish name? Yes, although I was worried it might sound a bit Lord of the Rings? I think it's soo pretty though :)

I like it, but it immediately makes me thinks of Eowyn from Lord of the Rings. Not sure if that's a bad thing, but you might get people commenting on it.

acsec · 27/08/2011 17:59

I really like it, never heard it before - sounds very ethereal!
