Okay, I posted a couple of days ago about names for DC (boy/girl twins due 29/09). We have narrowed it down to 3 names for each sex which we love equally! We would really appreciate which names people think are the best combinations, what boy/girl names go well together and if there are any obvious reasons why we shouldn't use them (teasing etc). At this stage we just don't know how we are going to chose between them!

Boys
Asher Gideon Hugo

Olivier Amos Reuben
Lennox Fabian Darcy

Girls
Isadora Poppy Quinn

Gabriella Georgie Coco
Emilia Tallulah Bo

Lennox and Emilia definitely!

MadHatter302 · 30/08/2011 11:34

Love Love Love Georgie and Asher!

curlwur200 · 29/08/2011 18:48

Dorian is great! How about Dorian and Emilia (I know it's only down as a mn but I love it!)?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2011 16:03

Love Asher and love Atticus but not the Darcy bit.

Busybee21 · 29/08/2011 13:39

I must say, I do prefer some of your origional suggestions, but out of the new ones my opinions are -

Asher Darcy Atticus - Like Asher but not overly keen on the middle names.
Dorian Reuben Hugo - Dorian is great! It also goes very well with the two middle names.
Lennox Fabian Arlo - My absolute favourite! Lennox and Arlo are fantastic!

Gabriella Isadora Quinn - Great name and has a nice flow to it.
Georgie Tallulah Coco - Georgie is a bit incomplete IMO. How about Tallulah Georgie Coco?
Poppy Emilia Bo - Emilia Bo is sweet, not sure about Poppy.

As a twin set I would go for Gabriella and Lennox - they sound adorable together!

AnnMarie82 · 29/08/2011 13:12

Okay, we have emended the boys list as we have found three new loves when it comes to boys names (Dorian, Arlo and Atticus) and changed our mind about some of the others (Gideon, Amos and Olivier). So the boys names are now -
Asher Darcy Atticus
Dorian Reuben Hugo
Lennox Fabian Arlo

We have also re-ordered the girls names to -
Gabriella Isadora Quinn
Georgie Tallulah Coco
Poppy Emilia Bo

opinions on the revised names please!

Don't worry I haven't been put off it as such I just don't want a name that would be a burden for my child.

Italiangreyhound · 28/08/2011 16:10

Don't let us put you off Olivier if that is what you want. I think the main problem is seeing it written down FIRST time but most people will be hearing it from you, surely.

Love Coco.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/08/2011 15:19

Georgie is horrible imho. Sorry.

Busybee21 · 28/08/2011 15:18

Also Dorian Amos Reuben is adorable!

Busybee21 · 28/08/2011 15:17

If you aren't using Olivier as a first name how about Dorian? It still has the individual/quirky feel of your other names but without the confusion of prenounciation etc.

AnnMarie82 · 28/08/2011 14:06

I'm now seeing that the Olivier thing is a real problem and is starting to put me off the name. It may have to be demoted to a middle name :(

LynetteScavo · 28/08/2011 08:37

Asher Hugo..I Gideon is hideous.

Gabriella Tallulah Coco. (Tallulah is much nice than Georgie, IMO)

littlemd · 28/08/2011 08:28

Emilia and Oliver for me. Really lovely names and great together. Good luck and congratulations x

muminthemiddle · 28/08/2011 00:23

I too misread Olivier for Oliver and do think he would spend a lifetime correcting people.
I prefer Reuben Hugo tbh. I don't like Lennox as it always reminds me of the boxer Lennox Lewis so seems quite a fierce name to me.
Gabriella is nice so is Isadora.

Italiangreyhound · 27/08/2011 23:49

Boys
Love Asher Gideon Hugo

I misread Olivier as Oliver, but that is reading not hearing!

Girls
Love Gabriella Georgie Coco - Coco Chanel was born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel

Defintely think NN Ella for Gabriella is fab.

curlwur200 · 27/08/2011 23:16

I think that Ella would be a good nn for Gabriella as, if you chose Gabby, you wouldn't be left with much options for boys nn (eg couldn't have Gabby and Olly) but with Ella you would have more versitility. Also I think that Ash and Ella sound adorable together!

AnnMarie82 · 27/08/2011 22:36

I know what you mean I could happily give them every name on the list but I think others would object!

WhiffOfBath · 27/08/2011 22:31

(I do like three names - my DCs all have three names, and I could easily have given them four!!)

WhiffOfBath · 27/08/2011 22:31

AnnMarie, I can see your point. That being the case, I'd go for Emilia. I think that's a lovely name - though DH vetoed it for our DD as he said she'd spend all her time explaining that it's Emilia rather than Amelia. Grr.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2011 22:30

Oh and don't be too sure that you can dictate a child's nn anyway. We named dd2 Isobel on the understanding that she would be Belle or Boo not Izzy but I am the ONLY person who ever calls her Belle or Boo and she insists that her name is Izzy and has done ever since she could speak! :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/08/2011 22:29

Lots of names that I like here -

love Asher (would have been both dd's middle name, had they been ds)
love Gideon
love Fabian
love Isadora

I'm personally not fond of having three names and imho the third name in each of your girls' name combinations sounds a bit redundant and weird (Quinn is surely a boys' name? Bo is cute as a nn but a bit silly as a given name imho, as is Coco).

I'd go for Asher Gideon or Isadora Poppy and lose the third names, personally.

AnnMarie82 · 27/08/2011 22:27

WhiffOfBath the reason why we would chose Ella as a nn is that we love Gabriella but dislike Gabby and, as her schoolfriends will nn her something anyway, we have decided to use Ella to ensure that she doesn't get Gabby. However most of the time we would use Gabriella.

WhiffOfBath · 27/08/2011 22:22

Bit baffled by Ella as nn for Gabriella. The full names on your list are quite interesting, but Ella is decidedly common.

greenzebra · 27/08/2011 19:56

Lennox and Gabriella

Dont like Isadora reminds me of Wizadora and very annoying kids show from the 90's.

But out of all your names I love Gideon, Ruben and Gabriella
