So we're onto either Lachlan or Brodie for this one but I'm looking for more suggestions. We already have a Euan, Callum and a Fergus. I had dismissed Innes but heard it in a shop today and quite liked it.

Im stuck - poor we'd Fergus was nameless for 10 days - I want to get this one cracked before he pops out.

Ian

ShoutyHamster · 27/08/2011 12:00

Definitely Lachlan not Brodie, teen American just about covers it alas. Lachie sounds great!

Or Struan - fabulous, and easy to pronounce.

grumpypants · 27/08/2011 10:26

apparently hamish, angus and fergus went over from ireland to found scotland? something like that (cba to google) - angus is lovely

slalomsuki · 27/08/2011 10:19

We have a Rory and a Lewis in our family as Scottish name. No problems with the pronunciation of Rory.

Had Callum, Dougall, Euan and Cameron on the list too.

pamplemousserose · 27/08/2011 10:11

Love Hector!

ragged · 27/08/2011 09:18

Family names (Nova Scotia immigrants born 1850s & earlier):
Duncan, Hector, Neil, Archibald, Langlin, James, Ken (must be a more Celtic spelling?).

Also have names like Symon, Peter, John, Charles, Grant & Lawrence in my Scottish branch (back to 1600s). John esp. popular in the 1820s.

FellatioNelson · 27/08/2011 09:14

Baxter?

midnightexpress · 27/08/2011 09:14

Don't like Brodie. I love Innes though. Also Ruairidh/Rory, Duncan, Douglas.

Clarabumps · 27/08/2011 09:09

My two are Louis and Alexander but gets called Sandy. I like scottish names( as I am scottish funnily enough)
My friend has a wee boy calles Innes and its really nice and I've only ever heard of one.
I liked Angus, dp preferred Hamish. I also like Ruaraidh. There are quite a lot of Laughlan's in Ds nursery. I like Brodie and I think although it could be seen as American, I don't think it will in the context of having other sons with scottish names.
There's also a few Logan's at ds nursery..or Loghain(??!)
I also really like Campbell!I have a friend called that and he's lovely!

Catsmamma · 27/08/2011 09:09

I like Murray, and I knew a very dishy Innes once :D

Yama · 27/08/2011 09:08

Anyone suggested Keir?

FellatioNelson · 27/08/2011 09:06

Magnus won't go with Fergus will it - too similar. Shame.

spiderbabymum · 27/08/2011 09:06

Naoise . I think its more irish really .

Pronuonced Nee sheu ??)

Similar to the girls name Saorise

You must have heard of that one

FellatioNelson · 27/08/2011 09:06

Lyle is nice! Callum, Euan, Fergus and Lyle sounds good.

FellatioNelson · 27/08/2011 09:04

Lyle is Scottish, but Lisle is Germanic surely?

lollystix · 27/08/2011 09:02

I always think of west highland terriers with Hamish - friend's dog was a Hamish you see. Saying that Ds1 was playing with a Hamish yesterday who looked alot more like a five year old boy.

Ruaraidh good but worried about Rory pronunciation which im not keen on

My friend has a Cailin - I like that.

ThatllDoPig · 27/08/2011 08:57

What about Hamish?

defineme · 27/08/2011 08:55

I have Lisles and Lysles in my family-we are from Northumberland, but are they Scottish names?

lollystix · 27/08/2011 08:54

Just googled Tavish McTavish - seemingly the 2nd worst bagpipe player with a drink problem

OP posts:
PinkFondantFancy · 27/08/2011 08:51

How about Ruaraidh?

pamplemousserose · 27/08/2011 08:48

Hamish
Angus
Tavish reminds me of the bagpuss story

lollystix · 27/08/2011 08:41

Good to know about Lachlan overseas as we could be heading abroad. Is Brodie popular in oz? I told my English friend and she who was drunk at the time and she reacted with horror to Brodie -'yuk, that's so teen American'. Felt a bitSad if that's the perception.

Also know a dodgy Logan. Although I love Campbell, struan and Magnus they're all out as a bit too similar to the others in sound. Ross and Fraser were always on the 'b' list. Fergus was to be a Fraser but he just didn't look like a Fraser when he came out.

We have a lorne at work - just think sausage when I see it.

Tavish??? What do you think - Tavie? (too much like chavy)?

Keep it coming ladies

Magnus is nice. Can't stand Logan. But then I know a dodgy family with a Logan.

Tillyscoutsmum · 27/08/2011 08:29

We have a Fergus Smile DH is Ewen and DN is Cameron. I really like Alastair and Lachlan. Also like Brodie. DB is Ross.
