I think Beatrix will become as popular as Thea will..
out of your names I would use Zoe Olivia I just find Freya harsh and pretty horrid to be honest..

oohlaalaa · 16/08/2011 14:41

I like all four of your suggestions.

twooter · 15/08/2011 05:34

Beatrix Molly is my fave. I like Trixie as a nn, and I think they go really well together.

Never liked Freya or Evelyn much tbh. I quite like both the other pairings, although would possibly prefer them the other way round.

CheerfulYank · 15/08/2011 04:16

Beatrix Molly is my favorite. :)

Offspring · 15/08/2011 03:45

I love Thea Isobel, DDs mn is Isobel and had this bump turned out to be a girl, Thea was on my shortlist.

I do also like Beatrix though (my second favourite on your list) and the reasons you have stated are lovely also.

InstantAtom · 14/08/2011 22:11

Zoe Olivia is by far the nicest. Like Zara even better though!

Freya - don't like, faddy
Beatrix - harsh, dominatrix (love Beatrice though)
Thea - not to my taste

Kirstle · 14/08/2011 21:51

Little secret - my favourite baby girl's name for years upon years was Phoebe (all to do with me studying Greek mythology and the Titans in year 11 - some 19 years ago!). I always assumed that that would be the name I would use regardless of popularity etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short, a friend used it. Then a family member. Sucks to be me, right? I know a lot of people think that I could still use it, but I just wouldn't. Because I know how I would have felt had I had DD first and named her Phoebe, only to have family member and friend do the same... it turns out if the boot was on the other foot, I would be v selfish about it.

My back up name was Beatrix, which I have secretly kept as back up for probably 5 years. Isabel I have always loved too, but that is so popular (as mentioned in post above). Anyway, since my absolute fave name has been used, I was having a wobble about Beatrix. I do love, love it.

I especially love the meaning - Bringer of Joy. I have been diagnosed with Uterus Didelphys and am unsure whether or not I will have my own baby (going to the UCLH in November to find out if I need surgery and what my chances of conception are). So feel that this name is apt, for a much longed for, wanted child. But then I really like other names too. Plus you get the added pressure that my mum hates the name. Not that we have ever got on particularly well, but she would be the sort to assume that I had named baby that to 'spite her'. Honestly, she is unreal!

Anyway, enough of all that. Sorry for the super long post/therapy session!
I am pleased we have lots of support for Beatrix :)

Freya Evelyn G
Beatrix Molly G
Thea Isabel G
Zoe Olivia __

I really don't like Freya, it's too close to Freda. Evelyn is very fussy and old-fashioned to my ear, though I do love the simplicity of Eve.

Beatrix Molly, I absolutely love! I think it works perfectly.

Thea is very pretty.

I've really gone off Isabel though (and my dd3 was almost an Isabel) just because of sheer numbers, and I haven't in general got a problem with 'popular' names. I hear several children called Isabel (and all it's sooo many varients Isabelle/Isobel/Ysabelle/Isabella/Isobella etc etc) everywhere I go. I know this isn't a problem for you as it will be your dd's middle name, but I'm just explaining why I no longer like it as a name.

Zoe Olivia is nice.

My favourite is Beatrix Molly ...or even Thea Beatrix/Beatrix Thea Smile

Maryz - not not naming quads, just a name obsessed junkie and preparing... :)

Evelyn for me is a middle name, as is Molly. The others could be first names.
Regarding Thea going intersteller - from what I have been reading on MN, Freya is also about to, too?

I love Thea and (this is going to sound so silly) but as a written name, it almost looks a bit...unfinished? This is likely me being very silly?

Beatrix means ''Bringer of joy'' and was a name long before Rowling made up a name for a fictitional character in a book, so that does not bother me. I also admit to being the only person in the World who has never seen or read Harry Potter lol

Finding eight names is the easy party - I currently have twenty girls names I love. Narrowing them down . . . not so much :) x

thanks everyone who posted

Love Beatrix, Thea and Evelyn, but none of the others, sorry.

Like Rhubarbgarden I don't think ending with a vowel then starting with a vowel works.

I'd go Evelyn Thea. Grin

greenzebra · 14/08/2011 18:39

I like them all but Im not in love with beatrix, it reminds me of Bellatrix out of harry potter and its not a pretty name.

Out of all your names I would choose Thea Isabel it goes well together, its pretty and simple all in one and also classy.

Rhubarbgarden · 14/08/2011 18:30

My favourite is Thea but not with a middle name that begins with a vowel. Sounds a bit awkward and makes people put an 'r' sound in the middle to make it flow. How about Thea Helena, Thea Margaret, Thea Violet?

I think all four of those are good choices; pretty names that work well together.

My favourite is also Thea Isabel.

I agree that Thea is going to get vv popular.

From your list I like Freya best, but don't like Evelyn. I always think of it as a boys name.

Zog is awesome!

Freya Evelyn - It's got it all, feminine, strong, classic, spellable, unusual but not so much, will date well, sounds nice. Oh God yes, this is a good name.
Beatrix Molly - The hard triCKS sound that differentiates Beatrice from Beatrix is a deal breaker for me. Love Beatrice though, it's the middle name in my current favourite name for my DC. Molly is boring now, it's been done to death. This is my least favourite.
Thea Isabel - You realise Thea is about to go intersellar yes? There are going to be Theas everywhere in 10 years... Which wouldn't put me off a bit. It's lovely and it goes really well with Isabel. Again though I am going to be a spelling PITA and say Isobel is so much nicer.
Zoe Olivia - Zoe's Ok, Olivia's Ok, it's just not so special as some of your other ideas. Which is a shame because "ZOG" is a fantastic set of initials.

Kirstle · 14/08/2011 14:45

lol thanks so far, girls.

Thea would be a 'thee-a'

ZOG isnt the worst - the ones to avoid are FAG, BAG, BIG I suppose

I actually like TIG :)
